bnicolette Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Hi folks, I couldn't find anything about this on the forum using the search feature but perhaps I wasn't searching the correct words. In any event while my mechanic was installing my Clearview filter he noticed that the valve on my standby vacuum system (precise flight) was coming apart. Apparently there is an AD (2005-11-05) out on this vacuum system (svs 1a). Did you all have this AD complied with and where did you get your parts. I did see one available (SVS V1) on The Vacuum Source for $270 and is a retrofit kit to comply with the AD. Quote
jetdriven Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 We had the SVS III and we upgraded it to the SVS V with a paperwork change. Looks like you need either the SVS V or VI upgrade kit. Precise flight has the documentation and the kits on their website. Quote
JaredDavis Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 The previous owner complied with AD 99-24-10 by converting a SYSIII to SYS V in April 2008 The valve ICA added 1.5 hours to my last annual. Regards, Jared 65C Quote
jetdriven Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Per Precise Flight, the AD 99-24-10 can only be complied with by upgrading to an SVS V. This terminates the AD as the SVS V has no AD issued. The V has an annual ICA of a simple visual inspection and cable lubrication. At biennial intervals, you must inspet the inside of the valve for proper operation. However, IIRC, unless this ICA is contained in an "airworthiness limitations" section of the manual, the ICA is not required. Quote
bnicolette Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Posted June 4, 2012 I ordered the new valve SVS V through The Vacuum Source today. $249 Surprising that nobody caught this before. I assume the AD came out in 2005? Of course in all my searches I have not come across it either, but I'm no mechanic. Quote
JaredDavis Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 I've got a 12/22/99 revision with these headings: 3. TESTING ... 3.3 CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS 3.3.3 at BIENNIAL Interval... So I think that means it is required. I would like the check every 2 years even if it is not required by regulations. Quote
FBCK Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Same thing here, it was never picked up on, I just had it removed, they are useless at turbo altitudes as they require the MP to be lower than atmosphere pressures. Quote
