Dan2112 Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 (edited) Hi everybody. I am in the Central Coast area near SLO (SBP) and have fallen hard for the Mooney. I would love to have an intro flight in a Mooney. Eventually I want to get my PPL, but convincing the wife is a tall order. I know the Mooney is not exactly friendly to more than two people. Do you think it is wise or even possible to try to get both me and my wife on a discovery flight in a Mooney here in the Central Coast? Dan Edited May 6 by Dan2112 Quote

In a modern Mooney, three people is no problem. As with most four place airplanes, you can fill the seats, or fill the tanks, or fill the baggage, but not all three at the same time. There are many Mooneys on the coast, so someone will likely be along shortly. Quote

Skates97 Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 If you're on Facebook check out the West Coast Mooney Club. There's Mooneys at Oceano, Santa Maria, Paso Robles, and I'm sure others. If you make it down further south I'd be happy to give you a ride. Quote

Dan2112 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Thanks everybody I don't have a FB account unfortunately. I thought there was a Mooney fly in at Paso at one point last year. Is that a regular occurance? Maybe that would be a good place to introduce my wife to the Mooney. I want to go "gently" before I suggest it to her.. Quote
201Mooniac Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 There was a great fly-in a Paso last year. It is an occasional thing, not quite regular. It was organized by Phil Corman of https://themooneyflyer.com/. He always does a great job on the fly-in. Quote
Dan2112 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Ah thanks for that info, I was looking at the event from last year and wasn't sure how I would "participate" as a non-pilot. I am still plotting how to get her around one... Paso is perfect since it has the air museum, etc and we love to go there. Quote
