testwest Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Hi everyoneWe have modified our 1977 M20J with a Lopresti cowl, Hartzell blended airfoil prop and Powerflow exhaust, so we have the stock M20J cowl, McCauley prop and stock exhaust system (drilled for 4-cylinder EGT) for sale. Best offer for one or all, they are currently located in Mojave, California.Norman and Gretchen Howell1977 Mooney M20J N201JX Quote
testwest Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 The prop is the square tip model, I'll get the logbook out for the hours, it was hangared and is in fair to good cosmetic condition. The Hartzell BA ("blended airfoil" which is the correct descriptor, people mis-use the term scimitar when describing the newest prop profiles) gave us 3 knots solid in cruise, sounds like not much but we also got to lose the low power yellow arc. The Powerflow/Lopresti mod is concurrent, so the gain if any will be aggregated. We'll see! Quote
testwest Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 Here is the update with the numbers for the McCauley square-tip prop we have for sale, see the testwest gallery for the pictures! $1900 plus shipping, a great deal since salvage shops sell damaged props for this amount. It is a McCauley B2D34C212, serial number 768616. It was installed new on 01/21/1979 at 352.49 TTAF on our Mooney N210JX. It was overhauled on 08/31/1988. Total Time on this propeller is 2713.91 hours TSMOH on this propeller is 1159.1 hours. Although the prop was working perfectly when removed, it has been a fair bit of time since the last overhaul, 22 years. However, for part 91 ops, calendar time does not necessarily force a mandatory overhaul. Anyone interested, PM me, thanks! Quote
testwest Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 Prop is SOLD! Please see this thread in the vintage Mooney section for updates. Thanks everyone. BTW, we have not yet flown the Lopresti cowl/Hartzell BA (blended airfoil) 2 blade top prop and powerflow exhaust combo yet, should be interesting. Sure liked the BA prop on the legacy setup, though. What would REALLY be cool is to make these three STCs work with the IO-390 echelon STC..... Quote
fantom Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Cool, maybe, but at a probable cost of more than the value of your '77J. Quote
