bixmooney Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 I have kind of a general question that keeps coming up. How do I easily find the part numbers for things on my plane that need attention. 1975 F model is my new plane. In particular, I have a nav breaker switch that works for a long while and then switches off. klixon breaker switch ? super happy with the new plane and panel. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 The part numbers are on the side of the breaker. The breakers are available, the printed switch covers are hard to come by. There is probably a Mooney part number for the breaker with the cover, but you will never find one. You will need to carefully remove the switch cover and replace the breaker. Your breaker is getting weak. Your best bet may be to change out your nav lights for LED. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 Most parts you can find in the IPC, but electrical parts are a weird deal. they are often not in the IPC, but on the individual schematics and not very well illustrated there. 1 Quote
Vance Harral Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 Part numbers are contained in the Illustrated Parts Catalog for your airframe, I've attached an image of the first page of my paper copy. Scans of paper images are so last-century, though. There are IPC PDFs floating around from a decade or so back, that Mooney created, and that's probably what you want. If you don't find it in the downloads section of Mooneyspace or someone doesn't send you a copy, I'll try to find mine. Having said that, electronic parts such as the switches are an exception. The electrical system of the airplane - including parts numbers - is actually found in the service manual, not the Illustrated Parts Catalog. 1 Quote
Vance Harral Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 Just now, N201MKTurbo said: they are often not in the IPC, but on the individual schematics and not very well illustrated there. Electronic parts are well documented, but again, in the Service Manual rather than the IPC. The image below is pasted from my service manual. The "Item No." corresponds to labels on the schematics. The catch is that a lot of these parts have been superceded by other parts, so knowing the original manufacturer and part number is often only the beginning of the story for finding replacements. 1 1 Quote

The breaker is getting weak but still works and the lighter draw from LED would be quick and easy fix. Then I started reading posts about LED lights. if I use white led. Will it work with my rad and green lenses since it is not full spectrum light ? and if I get the colored LED chroma lights I would need to buy clear lenses or just keep the green and red ? also I read posts about people saying they may cause dimming the annunciation panel and interfering with the magnatometer ? If it is in the close in the wing. I have no idea where that is. Quote

I just installed the Whelen Chroma lamps in my F last year. The FAA approval requires that you use the original colored lenses. I wondered how a colored lamp behind a colored lens would work but they are surprisingly bright. Quote

Thank you for the information I was on the website trying to figure out and searching the Klixon switches too I will get the chromas with the Pma and be done with it. thank you for all the input on the breaker switches and parts numbers too Quote
bixmooney Posted September 1 Author Report Posted September 1 New whelen chroma nav lights I got the new LED vac lights and actually felt good about paying $130 a light. They are super bright. Same color lenses. I think this will solve my occasional breaker switch tripping Quote

I can have sharp new switch covers and lettering ? Do they just pop off and back on from the front or do I need to take the switch out to change the covers ? Quote
