I am considering the idea of a paint correction for my F.  The top of the wing roots have some considerable fading in the paint, which is a dark color and seems to have soaked up a lot of sun.  I had assumed it was just a lost cause, but on closer inspection the rest of the plane is actually in much better condition - still smooth and glossy.

Is it common to respray/blend the top of the wings? Does anyone know of a decent paint shop in the Northeast?

You don't need a paint shop for correction.  They are biased to repainting.

There are a number of mobile guys who do paint correction and ceramic coating.  They come to you.

Stay away from a guy named Nigel.  He offers a good price, but uses cheap auto parts store "ceramic."  The actual guy he sent to do the job did a nice job on the paint correction though.

I found a reference for a good on on BT.  I have been in touch, but have not nailed down a date to do the work.

There is a company in Hagerstown MD that painted one of the AOPA sweepstakes airplanes. If you have a hangar you might just talk to a local auto shop or detailer. Most aircraft paint shops paint in a glorified hangar, any imperfections can be buffed out with enough elbow grease.
