Mcstealth Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 On the last couple of flights, Flight Aware registered my flight and speed, but not elevation. What is that symptom an indication of? Disclosure: No, I don't know exactly what equipment the Darter has. One problem at a time. I know it is the same as others I have seen in the white Nav light in the tail. I will look for the book and any addendum when I get back to the airport later today. thanks David Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 The tail beacon receives the transponder squawks and retransmits the mode C altitude. you need to verify that you have mode C turned on and that it is working. the easiest way is to call ATC and ask them. 1 Quote
PeteMc Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 As @N201MKTurbo said, just ask ATC to confirm your Mode C and ADS-B out if they're not busy. And if you've been on any IFR flight plans or requested Flight Following, they would have told you if there was a problem. Just because FlightAware doesn't see you, doesn't mean you really have a problem. The other thing you can always do is request an ADS-B Performance Report from the FAA. https://adsbperformance.faa.gov/PAPRRequest.aspx 1 Quote

I have heard of a number of people with issues with the tail light beacon devices. Quote
