Clrd4appch Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 Howdy, Trying to reconstruct some missing paperwork. I have the 337 for the SA704NE McCauley 3-blade prop conversion for my 65E. The 337 itself suffices for required paperwork as per the FSDO. But the STC holder will not issue another STC without an overhaul to confirm condition. Ouch. I do not have any flight supplement/limitations for this modification and need to verify that I am within STC specs. It was installed in1990 and overhauled in 2017. But the overhauler tosses paperwork after 5 years! I can't catch a break. Question: Does anyone with this mod have a copy of the flight supplement and/or limitations? Specifically looking for any RPM ranges, required governor modifications, and any operational information. Thanks! DRey Quote
AndreiC Posted January 9, 2024 Report Posted January 9, 2024 I think I have a McCaulay 3 blade prop on my E-model. I'll try to look later on through my paperwork if it is the same model as yours, and then I can tell you what my limitations are. Not sure if I have the flight supplement, but will look for it too. 1 Quote
Clrd4appch Posted January 10, 2024 Author Report Posted January 10, 2024 This would be awesome. Thank you. Quote
A64Pilot Posted January 10, 2024 Report Posted January 10, 2024 The STC holder should give you the limitations and POH supplement without re-issuing the STC, in fact I feel they may be required to do so. Call the FSDO, speak to an inspector and ask. People often will buy something used and try to wrangle a “free” STC from the holder. The STC holder isn’t being an ASS, without you being able to prove the STC was purchased they are protecting themselves, 337 squares you with the Feds and getting a POH supplement makes you fully legal. Does the 337 state limitations in it? I would put them in if I filled it out, if there were any. Quote
AndreiC Posted January 11, 2024 Report Posted January 11, 2024 Hi DRey, I finally found some time to look through my paperwork. I am not sure how to tell if I have the same prop as you do -- my logs say it is a McCauley model C3D36C415. In any case, my limitations (if you have the same prop as mine) are on a placard which reads "Avoid continuous operation below 15" Hg between 1900 and 2350 R. P. M." My electronic tach light turns yellow in this range. I actually looked through my 337 forms and it may be that your prop is the same as mine. The STC under which mine was installed is SA704NE, the same as yours. If this is the same, then I do have the AFM supplement, I attach pictures of it. Please let me know if it is not readable. DCarlton Posted January 11, 2024 Report Posted January 11, 2024 I think I have the same prop and limitations but I’d need to check my paperwork. Quote
Clrd4appch Posted January 11, 2024 Author Report Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) Much obliged, folks! Andrei, I really appreciate you taking the time to scan the doc. Edited January 11, 2024 by Clrd4appch Quote
DCarlton Posted January 11, 2024 Report Posted January 11, 2024 My prop is a McCauley B3D36C424/74SA-0. I'm on my second or third one. Not sure without studying the history more. My STC number is different. My limits and placards are also different than described above. I'm yellow between 1650-2200 rpm. "Avoid continuous operation below 15" M.P. setting between 1650 and 2200 rpm when above 85 KIAS (100 MPH)". You may need to do some more homework and make sure you are comparing apples to apples. My STC was good for the E and F with an -A1A engine. Quote
