I'm looking for a set of spare screws for the engine cowling (top and 2 side pieces).
I've taken them on and off 2x and all of the screws appear (??) to be the same (not sure about this though), although on visual inspection there are some differences in style that probably emerged over the years as originals were dropped and not found.
Does anyone have a link to a set that I can order online, something like a pack of 25 that I can keep handy if I misplace one?

Only you or someone looking at your plane will know type & size as likely a few different ones are used like mine has a mixed bag

Maybe a better question is: does there exist a document that would have part numbers for the OEM screws used?

The document you are looking for is the IPC (Illustrated Parts Catalog). I think there is one in the download section. If not they are easy to find online.

They are probably #8 Tinnerman TYPE B  screws (1/2" long) and nut plates.

Many times people have used regular pointed sheet metal screws instead of TYPE B screws (Aircraft Spruce has them)

Sheet metal screws have  AN INCORRECT THREAD/PITCH  diameter for Tinnerman nuts.

What you might find is that the wrong screws have worn out the tinnerman nuts inside the cowl and lager and larger pointed screws have been used in an effort to tighten down on the failed tinnerman nuts.

To do the job right you'll need to replace all the tinnerman nuts  Its easy to do just that there are about 85 of them in the cowl.

Then you get new 1/2" long TYPE B #8 screws to reinstall the cowl.

I bought a bag of these when I first got my airplane, there are plenty extra so I replace any missing or rusted/stripped screws every annual.

I would advise getting a handful of the nut plates as well, I have found a handful of stripped ones over the year. For how often those screws come off/on it is inevitable the nut plates will strip.
