JayMatt Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 this is my glide slope antenna right? Is there a way to relocate or replace this with something more aerodynamic? Is there any benefit to doing that? seems like a lot of drag... Quote

KSMooniac Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 That is your VOR and glide slope. It looks like you originally had the cat whisker style (because of the bump fairings), and then someone put the towel bar style on instead (maybe broke a whisker and couldn't get one?) but didn't use the version that usually sits on the Mooney tail. All of the factory installations have the forward bars connecting through the sides of the vertical stab, not the front. Modern Mooneys have the blade antennas up there and they are less drag and better looking. But expensive! Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
EricJ Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 You should be able to retrofit the usual whisker antenna there. That one is def fugly. Quote
