N601RX Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 How many people are using a cooling fan for their avionics cooling? For the ones that are not have there been any unexplained avionic failures? Were the avionics older or newer?
John Pleisse Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 I do...did wonders for the Garmins and was installed for around $375. Distribution type...seperate tubes to each radio. Even in the summer though, the stack still gets a little hot, additionally, I aim the the side board weemax vents upward into the space behind the panel. This helps and is a poor man's avionics fan.

jetdriven Posted December 22, 2011 Report Posted December 22, 2011 We have a troll fn-300 fan. It has five ports which is overkill for a kln-89b. We just use one port. King requires a fan for the 89b and I think garmin does also. We got it off eBay for 80$ and owner-supervised installed it.
