Fysiojohn Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 A seemingly simple question about how many pilots it will take to change a lightbulb… I have these Soderberg manufactured cockpit lights, but can’t for the life of me figure out how to get it to open to change out the bulb. The internet has been no help, or, I was unable to find it. suggestions are welcome, and needed! it appears to be an S1990/12 Quote
RLCarter Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 I’ve had them completely apart before to repair it, there is a focus tube that can get broken fairly easy so be careful,. I don’t remember it being that complicated just to change out the bulb (sits in the focus tube), will take a look at them this afternoon and get back to you on how they come apart 1 Quote
carusoam Posted October 8, 2021 Report Posted October 8, 2021 Great input RLC! Looks as if Robert’s input works…. The number of Mooney pilots required to change a lightbulb…. Stands at two! If it takes more input… we will have to look to BT to see their thread regarding Soderberg lights… Best regards, -a- Quote
MikeOH Posted October 10, 2021 Report Posted October 10, 2021 You could just give Soderburg a call: (909) 595-1291 But, where's the fun in that? Quote
carusoam Posted October 11, 2021 Report Posted October 11, 2021 Now… that’s troubling… If you dial Soderburg directly… We are up to three… Go Mike! Best regards, -a- Quote
Sheriff23 Posted October 13, 2021 Report Posted October 13, 2021 Hey those are the same lights installed in the B-52 I fly for my day job....we call them C-4 lamps, but no idea where that name came from. All the B-52s are '60 and '61 models....so they're vintage as well! If it is indeed the same model light, then to remove the housing cover you remove the 2-3 screws located around the perimeter of the base. You can see one screw there partially under the placard sticker labeled "OFF--DIM----BRIGHT". Once you remove the perimeter screws then the entire housing slides off and the bulb is exposed. Bulb is a quarter turn to remove. Hope this helps. 1 1 Quote
