Good evening all,

My 63C model has a small gap, maybe 1/16 near the top of the door. A buddy of mine says he recalls a mod that adds a pin up there helping it to close better. He said to look for it on Lasars website but I’m having no luck. Any thoughts?

I know others may gasp at this solution, but I had the same problem and it’s fixed now.  I went to Walmart and found the thickest, squishiest, foam weatherstripping they had.  Ironically, this was also the cheapest they had, less than $5. I replaced my door seal with that and it seals up perfectly. Much better than the factory seal I had before.  Someone said that’s great, but how long will it last? It’s been in about a year with no signs of wear, so for $5, I’m happy!

Same guy also suggested that. I have the inflatable door seal but it leaks. When I do pump it up it solves the noise issue.

Gasp!   :D

There is hardware that solves this challenge...

A ball and claw kind of thing... all connected to the existing door hardware... that pulls the top closed...

See what it takes to bring your door up to the 1965 (?) or newer level....

Might ask Doc or Mr. Lowen about the details...

@Hank is probably familiar with the engineering aspect of the M20C’s door hardware...

PP thoughts only...

Best regards,

I think the additional door catch is a simple pin, based on old memories from the MAPA mailing lists. Adding the pin to the door isn't hard, but there was much discussion about drilling the hole in the frame as there was no chance for correction and no second tries.

My C does not have the upper catch, so I can't confirm pin-into-hole vs. ball-and-claw.
