If I recall, around 10gph.  The plane holds 100 gallons and some of his distance flights were 9 hours+ in duration.

If I'm reading that chart correctly it looks like you lose rather than gain HP to friction running it up to 3k.

FHP is the HP that is required just to rotate the engine at that speed. It lowers the THP — thrust hp, i.e., the power available to the prop.

Friction vs. Greed, gents... :)

That chart goes up to 3,000 rpm!

my engine used to be limited to 2,500 rpm...

Getting 2,700 was adding 30more HP...

I’m taking a leap... going to 3,000 rpm... May be/might be 45more HP (if the math was linear...)

Sorry, I got distracted by the X-axis... and stopped paying attention to the frictional characteristics...

Call me greedy... :)  prop noise at 3krpm must be ferocious...
