M20C Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) If you place a floor jack under the tail stand and a chain (put the chain through a vynal or rubber hose) around the prop shaft up front to support the motor, removing the top two motor mount bolts (on the firewall) will allow the engine to rotate forward (down) giving greater access to the accessories on the back of the motor. It is really an easy thing to do and will allow easier removal of the prop governor. This is why there is the small block on the lower two engine mount attachment points. chriscalandro Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 I did it last night. I removed the cover to my slick mag, moved the hot air scat hose and the right tools for the job made it no big deal. Quote

This is what i was going to suggest. I used this method when reinstalling my engine and installing the engine monitor. I could jack up the engine to see how lines fit, jack it back down to move it out of the way, do the work, put it back up to check clearances, rinse and repeat. Quote
RLCarter Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) not sure I would use a chain (covered in anything) around the crankshaft, a 1" flat nylon strap is much easier on things Edited February 1, 2019 by RLCarter Quote
salty Posted February 1, 2019 Report Posted February 1, 2019 I used the engine lifting strap, not the shaft. You're not even lifting the entire weight of the engine, so it'll handle it fine. 1 Quote

chriscalandro Posted February 11, 2019 Report Posted February 11, 2019 (edited) I wouldn't do any of that. I got mine out in about an hour and a half and only removed a scat hose and the cover of a mag. Also, if anyone cares my new pcu5000 is awesome. Edited February 11, 2019 by chriscalandro Quote
