BorealOne Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 If you haven't already, check out the images that are now coming in from Japan. Sendai airport was pretty much erased by the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis , ie: http://beta.images.theglobeandmail.com/archive/01237/web_quake_bf_17_1237946cl-f.jpg Terrifying to see, and my prayers are with the people of Japan. Hank Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I used to live a 30-minute train ride south of Sendai. It's a beautiful town, an amazing harbor, and good seafood. Hopefully both will still be true . . . They just need to get the fires under control, those are much worse hazards in Japan due to both population density and construction methods. In the country where I lived, housing lots were roughly 2000 square feet, not the houses themselves. My prayers are with them, as well as the less-developed outlying countries with tsunami warnings. Hawaii and the West Coast should come through fine. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 All is well at this time on the Central Coast of California in Pismo Beach and at Oceano Airport. Precautionary evacuations of beachs only. Nothing of significance, wave wise. Positive thoughts are with the Japanese that are suffering from this tragedy. Quote
