O.K. Here goes: I have removed a bunch of equipment from my Mooney (over the years) and bought a bunch of stuff aviation and Mooney related on Ebay.  Most experiences have been fine...but, I am having a great experience on Ebay right now...I sold a couple of Mooney steps that I had listed on Ebay (listed separately).  Listed them at .99 cents.  Listed as used, NO RETURNS...stated that I made no claims on airworthiness.  Guy wins one step for .99 cents and wants his money and shipping back...started a formal dispute.....REALLY?  So audience have you ever had a similar experience?  What say you?  Thanks for playing...

Hey, I saw your steps and recognized it was you , I thought about buying one of them because my M20 B doesn't have a step. The linemen are getting testy about rolling the boarding/deplaneing ladder for me you know. I can tell you now that if I got one of those steps for $0.99 and couldn't find structure to mount it on. I would want my money and shipping , and pain and suffering  as well. Since your step wouldn't fit my airplane I would want you personally to roll out the boarding/deplaneing ladder in lieu of 6 weeks community service. I'm so damned angry now you should have to piggy back that S.O.B. to his plane until he gets what he deserves! He would look funny with, with a Mooney step for a kick stand sticking out of his wazoo.

Really , maybe he was expecting it to be attached to a real Mooney when delivered. How do you know that is NOT what he expected?

No , I've never had a problem buying anything on E-Bay.  I just learned to hit  "buy it now" , which means it belongs to me.

I've met my share of knuckleheads on eBay (it's not just limited to aircraft parts....).  Doesn't matter what is in the description, most don't read it anyway.  They just look at the shiny pictures.  I had one auction where I marked the item as non-functioning in big red letters at the top of the description and the guy complained when he got it that it didn't work... duhhh!  Still, is it really worth all of that trouble for a $.99 auction win.  I've seen guys and gals get buyers remorse when they bid way over what an items worth, but sheesh that is ridiculous.

Okay, you win for snagging the craziest guy out of the pool.

Ok, Is a whole airplane or two considered an aviation part? Or is a whole airplane or two considered aviation PARTS ?

Did you make up those words near the voting dots? Hell, no wonder the guy couldn't understand what you were selling and the conditions under which the sale was taking place! You have to be more specific!

I once sold a boat on Ebay and the high bidder backed out.  I asked him why he bid on it and he said "Well I did not think I would win it".  It was a project boat so it was not worth a lot.  He got under my skin really bad and since he only lived 50 miles from me thought the best solution would be to dump it in his front yard late at night, without the trailer.  It would be worth my loss in this case since it was a 26ft, 5900lb boat.  I decided quickly to remove the idea from my mind, due to my proper upbringing.  But I still can picture this in my mind and it is pretty funny thinking about it again.  I can picture it playing out, him calling me and being upset, as I calmly ask him "when are you going to make payment".  Boy I am glad I was just a little "young and dumb"!

I also just sold a MX20 multifunction on Ebay last month, the guy communicated poorly, then tried to change his mind.  But it ended fine with proper payment and delivery.

As far as your step, send him a credit for 0.99!
