Godfather Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 Seems like a couple MS members have upgraded the 330es transponder to the new 345. Just wondering what kind of install cost was incurred for this change. Any new antenna/wires needed? I know there will be extra cost for my install to have my skywatch box run through the 345. How is xm weather handled? Can I toggle between the two services or do I need to decide at the install? Quote
amillet Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 I was quoted over $6K to upgrade my 3 month old 330 to 345 last year by PCA. 1 Quote

amillet Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 That included the 345 and them keeping the 3330 on trade. I thought it would be a simple slide in the same tray swap but was told it involved wiring changes. I still have the 330 in our plane & use the Stratus off ADSB in. 1 Quote
PTK Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 That's high. The best quote I have thus far is 4600$ to install a 345R and take out a 33R on trade. I'm waiting for a couple more. 1 Quote
orionflt Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 The 330 value is dropping at an alarming rate, I debated upgrading to the 345 but I think the es upgrade is the most economical for my needs, especially since I now qualify for the FAA rebate. Brian 2 Quote
Bryan Posted April 6, 2017 Report Posted April 6, 2017 Going from a 327 to the 345 for 5000$ (installed) and keeping the 327. It is literally being installed right now. 1 Quote

They did the GTX345 install in our plane for $6000 including a couple hundred dollars credit for our KT76A. When we were shopping we also asked for a bid from PCA and theirs was the same as Gary's, but Gary was closer if we ever needed to take it in for issues. PCA got to the price because they have no sales tax. Gary got to the price by charging fewer hours of labor and a lower hourly rate. 1 Quote

I would think with the 330es already installed I might get the labor done for under 1 amu. 1 Quote
