damcmurt Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Hello, I am looking to get an annual done on my 231 and am looking for suggestions on who would be a good shop to take it to. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
flight2000 Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Where are you at in Cali? Top Gun and LASAR are the two that I'd recommend. http://www.topgunaviation.net/topgunaviation/index.html http://www.lasar.com/services.asp Brian Quote
damcmurt Posted November 28, 2010 Author Report Posted November 28, 2010 Thanks I will check out those shops. I am located in Bakersfield. I have heard a little about top gun and them being in Stockton they may make the most sense. I have a local A&P but I think his mooney experience is limited. Quote
DaV8or Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Another is Ray's Aviation in Santa Paula. They are not a MSC, but they are Mooney friendly and have a fair amount of experience with them. Nice guys. Quote
thinwing Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 another is Ivanair at ksac...a very good non msc shop run by a fellow mooney owner and 2010 faa charles taylor award winner 50 years of service...kpc Quote
richardheitzman Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Top Gun or LASAR without hesitation. BUT if this is the first time that aircraft has seen a Mooney Service Center of this caliber you may want to sit down with them and let them go over the details with you BEFORE the inspection starts. It should be very educational and will save you a lot of heartache. You appear to be a new Mooney owner so I would suggest meeting them. Paul Loewen is the owner of LASAR and Robert Brown is the DOM/Manager. Mark Rouch is the President/Manager at Top Gun Aviation. All of the above mentioned are top rated mechanics and Mooney specialists. Quote
carqwik Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Top Gun has done my annuals on my M20M for the last nine years, including R/R the engine for the crankshaft AD. Generally, they've done a great job. Quote
damcmurt Posted December 5, 2010 Author Report Posted December 5, 2010 Thanks for the all the feed back. I did get to spend some time on the phone with Mark at Top Gun. He seemed very knowledgeable and very helpful. Quote
