Browncbr1 Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 I'm looking to speak with someone who has experience fitting an OEM 201 J cowl on an F model. Or, fitting an OEM 201 J cowl on a C model. Anyone out there? Quote
Marauder Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 I'm looking to speak with someone who has experience fitting an OEM 201 J cowl on an F model. Or, fitting an OEM 201 J cowl on a C model. Anyone out there? See if John Breda installed on his F. That is his user name. I think he went with the J cowl on his heavily modded F. You would never know it was an F unless you saw the Johnson bar. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote

rbridges Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 I don't have any experiencing fitting one, but my plane does have a 201 cowl. Let me know if I can be of any help. Quote
N601RX Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 I have gathered up most all the parts to do this but have not started it. It involves swapping the cowl, spinner, baffling, and air induction. You will also have to swap the engine mount or have the cowl flap mount hing mechanism welded to yours. Then the cowl flanges and side skins will have to be un-riveted and trimmed back. Once this is done strips of aluminum are slid between the side skin and firewall and rivited back together. The cowl then mounts to these strips of aluminum. Quote
rbridges Posted March 17, 2016 Report Posted March 17, 2016 that's good to hear. Have you gotten your hands on a cowl, too? Quote
Browncbr1 Posted March 17, 2016 Author Report Posted March 17, 2016 I know of a good cowl nearby for cheap, but I haven't bought it because I learned of all the firewall modifications that would be needed. My local fairy doesn't have experience with this particular project either, so thought I would pass. Maybe someone will give up their ARI or SWTA cowl to me if they buy Sabermachs new cowl. I prefer less fabrication from scrap materials .. I dunno Quote
