unicom Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Hi all, My aircraft will shortly be coming out of its annual maintenance, with no bad suprise has I take very good care of it. However, my maintenance store wants to replace my fuel selector valve as per the manufacturer maintenance manual (aircraft serial#24-0975). The fuel selector is an Anderson-Brass type which apparently has a potential of 500 hrs. Passed that time, it needs to be replaced for the price of €1500,00 ($2000) - not including labor !!! - Sounds enormous and before going any further, I just want to get some kind of confirmation from you guys that this part needs to be replaced. How much this fuel selector sells for in the USA ?Is this type of equipement can be overhauled ? Thanks for your answers. Philippe Quote
carusoam Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I am waiting to hear from Piloto on this one.... From my experience: My M20C had 5,000+ hours on its fuel selector. The fuel selector is a combination of selector valve and water separator / screen / discharge valve. I am sure the assembly can be expensive to replace, however a few moving parts can be exchanged. Each year at annual this assembly would be separated cleaned and put back together, without any issues. I would often find fine rust particles (fill neck detioration - get stainless steel) settled in the bottom of device. I am not familiar with a required replacement based on hours. Best regards, -a- Quote
