Guest Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 I lost my key fob for my wife's Toyota Highlander last month. She had it replaced today. $450 including re-programming her fob. You could buy a whole new ignition switch with door locks for less for an airplane, wow! Clarence Quote
Hank Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 Plan B for me was a new non-Medico switch. Much easier and less time consuming. Now I insert key and turn, no more insert key, turn, then push hard. Body memory the same as starting my F-150. When time factor is considered, about the same cost. I did drive a shop truck from the early 70s with the ignition key on the left, like it is. Ow in my Mooney. All other vehicles I've owned crank to the right of the wheel, including my wife's push button Nissan. Even my little Ford Ranger takes the key on the right. The Mooney takes the key on the left, turn three clicks and push; my cars take the keys on the right, turn to the second click. Quote
BillC Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 I have to apologize to DAVIDWH. I made a comment that my Medeco switch did not require you to push to start. ( I deleted the comment). Well, I flew my Ovation today and guess what.......you do have to push it in to start. Wow. I don't know what I was thinking. Sorry David, you were right. BillC Quote
