bd32322 Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 Aopa vref puts a pretty hefty premium on a 1986 m20k versus a 1985 m20k (90k versus 120k). Now with the engine differences, it makes sense. But if these are rocket conversions, does it make sense any more? I am looking for a rocket, but I am wondering if I am better off grabbing a pre-86 conversion? Thanks Quote
RocketAviator Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 I fly a 231 Rocket. While I have never experienced 1st hand I'm told the 252 Rocket is a slightly faster airplane all things being equal. Again I have no real world knowledge to confirm. I paid 130k less than 2 yrs ago. I'm not sure price is all exclusive of yr. I got airplane zero time factory overhaul with fresh paint, good modern avionics (while completely functional, I installed G500 SVT, G750 & 650 plus several upgrades) I'm expecting this to be my last plane, my primary mission is fully IFR equipped multi flights a month of 500nm each way. It has served me well so far. The only thing I wish I had was known icing. Good luck keep us posted on your endeavor. Quote
carusoam Posted December 28, 2014 Report Posted December 28, 2014 That sounds like an anomaly... For 30k an engine can be nearly swapped...(not the turbo or installation) my details may not be factual, but there is reason to look deeper... Including a call to AOPA. They are pretty helpful. Best regards, -a- Quote
