MattS Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 In general, how long should the inspection take? I was given an estimate of 26 hours. Thanks.
danb35 Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 That sounds reasonable--I think the shop I used for last year's annual said 25.
Parker_Woodruff Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I'd say 21-27 plus squawks which should be slightly less than usual in labor since stuff is already taken off, like the cowling, etc. This includes AD research, putting the plane on jacks, everything.
Cruiser Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 The annual should be a fixed price. The number of hours should be irrelevent unless you are using them to judge the thoroughness of the job. Insist that the Mooney Airplane Company 100 Hour-Annual Inspection Guide be used to complete the work.
231Pilot Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 My annuals (both on M20C and M20J) have always been a fixed price plus squawks, and of course plus any "extras" I have opted to have done while the aircraft was partially disassembled. If your shop isn't using the Mooney Airplane Inspection Guide referred to by Cruiser, get a new shop.
skyking Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 My annuals run $2500 plus any found work. Tyler spent 30 hours on my last one as the woodwings take a little extra time
KSMooniac Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 That sounds pretty reasonable, even low to me, time-wise. I figure it would be in the 40-hour range with the lubrication steps included. I spend a lot longer doing it owner-assist style because I'm slower than a pro, but likely more methodical too.
