Houman Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Hi, I had a very good recommendation for my pre-purchase mechanic here, so I'm hoping I can again use the collective wisdom of this forum to find a local trainer when my aircraft will be ready for me to fly in. I'm a low time pilot ( 150h ), got my licence on the flight school old c172's, and since, 50h hours on a Beech sundowner where I do about 115 kias. Insurance is asking me for a 15h instructor training and 10h solo, I thought I combine that with my IFR training, I have my night rating instructor that can give me the IFR training, but I'm looking for someone to give me at least 5h specific to the Mooney, especially with the 305 Rocket converted engine and turbocharge operations that I have to take care of... The training will take place from the Mascouche Airport ( CSK3 ), so hopefully someone that is not too far away would be great. Thanks ! Quote
carusoam Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Are you a MAPA member? They have a handfull of people that may meet your criteria and may be in you neighborhood. Where will you be receiving your plane? It is often a good idea to train close to the seller (put some hours on the plane) in the event that you need something while you are in their neighborhood. You might recognize something missing. Easy to take care of when close buy. Best regards, -a- Quote
Houman Posted April 20, 2014 Author Report Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks, I'm not a member of MAPA yet, but I will look into it... The plane is already here, just needs to go trough the importation process. If anyone knows a qualified pilot, it would be great ! Quote
mike_elliott Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Congrats on your new plane! Getting instruction with a Mooney Savvy instructor will without question be your best course. The Rocket is a lot of airplane that needs to be mastered well for your instrument training to be efficient and successful. PM me if you would like Mike Elliott MCFI, CFII Quote
Houman Posted April 20, 2014 Author Report Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks Mike, I don't know about new, well it's newer than me, being a 1979 lol... Quote
yvesg Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Thanks, I'm not a member of MAPA yet, but I will look into it... The plane is already here, just needs to go trough the importation process. If anyone knows a qualified pilot, it would be great ! I know of one who is based in Gatineau. Maybe he would know of one in your area. One of Mooney Space members is also based at Mascouche. Perhaps he would know of one. He is sometimes posting here under the user ChristianGodin. Please send me an email at yvesg@semo.ca with your info if you want me to forward it to the Gatineau instructor and/or his contacts. Yves Quote

aviatoreb Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Salut Formation HY Rocket owner her just a few miles south of the border - look up KPTD and you will see it is very close. I am not a CFI but I do have close to 500 in 933 so I can describe owning and flying a rocket. Come by and visit! Et je parle assez bien le français. Pas trop mal. Ciao Quote
