LevelWing Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 I'm looking to replace the throttle control lever in my '68 M20C, preferably with one that has the button lock on it (like the mixture/prop control levers). The cable is also loose and needs to be tightened, but I can't imagine that being a big issue. I've checked Aircraft Spruce and they have a universal one but not one specifically for a Mooney. Any recommendations? Quote
mooniac15u Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 I have the vernier throttle on my M20D. It takes a little getting used to but it is very nice for making fine adjustments to MP and you never have to mess with a friction lock. Once you get used to holding it a little differently to control the button you get all the same control feel as a regular throttle plus the precision of the vernier when you want it. There have been a couple of discussions on this topic. You will find some who have never used one telling you that you don't need it. I can't recall where mine came from. I will check the logs this afternoon. Quote
mooniac15u Posted November 19, 2013 Report Posted November 19, 2013 Found it. My throttle was converted under the Mod Works STC (SA00943AT). Mod Works is long gone and I don't know who currently owns the STC. 1 Quote
LevelWing Posted November 20, 2013 Author Report Posted November 20, 2013 Thanks. I'll see what I can find on that STC but I may just stick with a normal throttle control. I can't imagine the throttle control itself costing that much. Quote
BigTex Posted November 20, 2013 Report Posted November 20, 2013 Contact Southwest Texas Aviation (http://www.swta.net) and order it. On their website it is PN: 660190-003. The price is $502. A couple of months ago I ordered a prob cable from them and it was actually drop shipped from Mooney. Strangely enough, Mcfarlane made it for Mooney. Quote

But, the universal ones don't have the vernier control capabily which, to me, is important on the throttle control. Quote
