  2. And I got dibs on all that Mooney stuff you have stashed in your hangar.
  3. Always happy to help out a fellow Mooney owner.
  4. He couldn't have been in too bad of shape. Saw on his FaceBook page he was scuba diving for the first time!
  5. I think you have my cell. Give me a call when you are in the area. I saw Jack was down in the warm climates. Lucky dog!
  6. This place is addicting. Especially for guys named Timmy.
  7. http://wtkr.com/2015/03/04/multiple-agencies-respond-to-report-of-a-plane-crash-in-norfolk/ They said two are confirmed dead and they thought 4 people were on board?! Just listened to the broadcast, they said it could carry up to 4. Doubt he would have been able to fly full fuel and full seats from Florida.
  8. Don't know. I will check the Norfolk news channels.
  9. I don't think I ever heard a controller cancel someone's approach clearance while they were "on" the approach but they were so far off of the localizer. The entire audio portion made me sick... Ground speed of 30 knots, telling the controller his gyros were precessing too much and that the turbulence was so severe that things were flying around in the cockpit. Not a good situation at all...
  10. Unbelievable! If this event in Norfolk is fuel starvation, I can't believe a person who had two prior fuel starvation accidents would do this again.
  11. The FlightAware track also shows him at 7000 on this final leg.
  12. Unfortunately, this thread topic is too timely. The accident on the "Mooney down in Norfolk" thread is exactly this scenario. Look at his FlightAware and you will see he was at an IFR altitude which leads me to believe he filed although his FAA pilot license does not include an IFR a rating.
  13. It also looks like he was not instrument rated and was flying in pretty bad conditions. Missed at his destination.
  14. If the plane has a data reporting engine analyzer, I would ask for some recent flight data.
  15. Good luck! We're supposed to get another 5 to 9 inches tonight!
  16. Another site is reporting the plane N is 66BB.
  17. Here is a short video on my JPI 830 in case you are curious what it looks like in action. http://youtu.be/SZP5DHQS8HU
  18. Give Dennis Glick over at Dutchland a call and see if he will loan you his. Tell him I sent you. Offer to rent them, he might just let you borrow them or then again, he may charge you twice as much to rent them because I sent you there!
  19. Yes, as long as you do a great job of hiding one of the plane's costs.
  20. Unfortunately, if it was forced at one point, that cable can kink a bit and then all the lubrication in Saudi Arabia won't free it up.
  21. The big question is whether he is really dead... Don't forget, he came back once already!
  22. Sorry for not keeping everyone updated on this. I received my 900 and will be trying to install it in the next month. It looks like my existing 830 will be sold with - a new set of CHT and EGT probes and harnesses - a new fuel flow sensor - a new tach sensor - a new OAT sensor - the oil pressure sensor will be pre-owned - the oil temperature sensor will be pre-owned - the MP sensor will be pre-owned I see Don has a trade-in 830 offer going on for $1,900 (you need to provide him a 700 series as part of the trade). Considering 4 of the 7 sensors sets will be new, including the expensive CHT/EGT probes & harness, I would like to get $2,000 for it.
  23. Possibly... The only way we would know for sure is if the butler spoke the following words; about and process.
  24. And here in the northeast, it can be 4 and 6 hours a day -- everyday
