  1. If anyone ever needs this part or anything else in the assembly I found that Brittan makes it though not in stock. Usually they need some lead time, but as usual were great to deal with.
  2. Hi All, In changing out a servo in the tail today I noticed that the cable that connects it (the forward servo) to the rudder control rod was slightly frayed. It looks like part number # 1890-18.5. any idea where to get one? I sent Mooney an email, any ideas? Thanks, Jim
  3. All, I received the email below about the Trio Autopilot for Mooneys. I have signed up and here is a link to an AOPA article about them (Pre 172 approval) https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2016/november/28/group-works-to-stc-new-lower-cost-autopilot If you're interested please contact Paul. Looks like the kit will be less than $3500 including servos. http://www.trioavionics.com/ProPilotBrochure.pdf Mooney drivers ! We had a great meeting last week with the FAA to kick off the Trio Pro Pilot autopilot STC approval project. The STC Group, is holding an engineering meeting next week to decide who gets the resources for the next couple of A/P install kit design projects. I’ve got three (3) of you on my Firm commit list. I need at least 25 to 30 of you on the Firm list in order to throw engineering team members at your Mooneys. It’s time to step up to the plate and get on the list everyone. I’ve got Joel K., Jason K, and Ray Slocum on the Firm list. Ping me before next Tuesday, get on your type group lists, and get them to belly up to the bar. Cheers, Paul C. 4. Just wanted to put in a PIREP from my annual at AGL Aviation. I have to say that they were great to work with, reasonably priced an I will take my bird to Lynn for service anytime. AGL is located @KMRN (Foothills, NC). If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime.
  5. How about just putting a dehumidifier in your hanger? Presumably one could lower the RH considerably.
  6. For the sake of argument, let's just say that someone may have done one before they thought about the grease
  7. Any idea if grease (landing gear) will eat automotive lacquer? In other words, if you used automotive lacquer to touch up your gear would it degrade? Thanks! Jim
  8. Ron, Thanks for the offer...obviously if you ever need a ride, I am happy to help. Jim
  9. I was at clt for about a year, then one day I did not make it out during slow time and I was #12 for takeoff.....decided it was time for a new airport

  11. Hi All, Looking for a new shop to do my annual this year and wondered if you had any recommendations? Plane is located in Charlotte, NC so I have a lot of flexibility. Prefer a shop that knows Mooneys well. My guy is busy and I wanted to have a different set of eyes looking at my bird once and while (my guy has been doing my plane for 7 years). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank, Jim
  12. Had the same problem after my recent rebuild. They replaced the fuel pump which fixed it. In speaking with the Lycoming rep at Oshkosh, he told me that they had been having a lot of problems with the fuel pumps being made for them
  13. Thanks for the reply. It just happened today
  14. Thanks for the reply, It was the combo gauge. It's only been in there since 1968!
  15. Today my MP gauge decided to lay down. We checked the line and there does not appear to be a leak or crack in the line. The gauge shows 25" when the engine is running at idle. Any ideas or recommendations for a replacement? Thanks! Jim
  16. Full marks to Kelty!!!! I applaud Kelty for posting, being a man and describing honestly the events. There is not a pilot here that has not made a mistake and some events/timing just make some mistakes more costly than others. Ask any real pilot (not a 172 ppl that flies 20 hours a year on CAVU days with 5 mph winds) and they can give you a laundry list of things they could have done better in their flying career. The difference between being a good pilot and great pilot is learning from your own mistakes and the mistakes of others, especially when preparing for/avoiding emergencies. Kelty posted in here to make all of us better pilots, a purely selfless act. Anyone that posts any criticism of him without thanking him and thinking/saying, "what a great guy for posting this for my benefit because this could happen to me in an emergency" is just a jerk (or insert worse insult). Respectfully- Jim
  17. Start at the floor, then work your way across the panel right to left. (Tanks, pressure, mixture, boost pump) much easier to remember and worked for me when my fan quit
  18. Well done!!
  19. Can you please post their email? Thanks!
  20. Can I ask how you got out? It looks like the tree is blocking the door, Glad you are safe and sound!
  21. I think I am going
  22. Thanks very much for all the feedback!
  23. Hi All, I am a longtime Mooney pilot (about 12 years of Mooney exp and about 1600 hours TT) with an instrument rating. After attending a few aerodynamics forums at Oshkosh this year I realized that I would like some advance instruction in recovery in my Mooney for"inadvertent transgression of the flight envelope" I'm based in NC and will happily travel for an outstanding Mooney instruction. Thanks so much for you help! Cheers! Jim
