I'll try that first, thanks.

The G5 is an excellent backup AI, plus an uncertified Garmin 796 on the yoke that could get me out of a jam. Frankly, after dealing with the 256 (went through 3 of them) partial panel flying is pretty much a non-event any more. Just another day at the office. So far the KI-300 has been rock solid, except for the possible trim issue. So we're still trying to troubleshoot the trim alarm issue on the KFC-200. Figured out it goes off after the AP porpoises for 5 to 10 seconds ever so slightly (not noticeable on the altimeter but you can feel it in your seat). Not sure if the pitch servo can't handle holding such an exact altitude, overshoots and has to compensate, or something else. Once the trim alarm is set off, the trim locks up (with the alarm sounding) for 10 to 15 seconds until it resets itself. Right now it's just annoying and hasn't affected the plane's ability to hold altitude or fly an approach, but still something that we need to figure out. PS - The pitch servo was replaced about 6 months ago, but the alarm issue didn't start until I put in the KI-300. Anyone else had something like this happen?

Here's an update on my KI-300 install a week ago (1980 M20J). Last flight in heavy IMC saw my trim alarm come on 4 times in level flight, which locks up the trim until it stops (5 to 10 seconds). Didn't do that before with the KI-256. We're trying to trouble shoot the problem, and not even sure it's connected to the KI-300 install. Other than this glitch - which may be unrelated - the unit seems rock solid and very precise. Follows courses and glide slopes so well that I have to check that my backup Nav2 is actually working because it's so perfectly centered. Here in the northeast we don't that much significant turbulence or high heat days so may never get to test out those issues as mentioned above. Fortunately my G5 HSI also works as a AI so there is backup (not to mention a portable 796). Only minor complaint so far is the lag time to spool up (heating, alignment). Will advise how the other issue turns out. PS - Got a call from Southeast Aerospace following up on the purchase, saying no one else had yet bought one from them and wanted some feedback. Seems they aren't flying off the shelves.

I'd be interested in this as well. Just had the KI-300/KA-310 installed in my M20J. One flight in and works great but haven't given it a real test yet.

After waiting over a year for this unit to become available, I finally had the KI-300 installed a few days ago, plus the KA-310 adapter to go with my KFC-200 flight director. Once one flight with it so far, but it's very precise and handles course tracking and approaches smoothly. I'll report again once I've had some time to play with it. Mechanic who installed it said it a real chore... so many wires. Not anywhere near "plug and play" as they advertise. I was a little disappointed to see Garmin come out with their GI-275 AFTER I bought the KI-300 (a little cheaper). Guess technology will always stay ahead of us. PS - I drive a 1980 M20J.

The KA-310 is finally approved. Anyone else going with the KI-300/KA-310 option to get rid of their KI-256? -
I too am waiting for the approval on this pair of units to replace my 256 to go vacuum free. I have $7K in my budget but not $12K+ for the other options (Aspen with drivers or new AP). Have been waiting for two years so can probably wait a little longer. After all they did say 3rd quarter 2019 didn't they?

New to this thread. I've got a serious radial spread issue with my WX-1000. Strikes are clustered in wedges in the correct direction but wrong distance. I read that this a common issue with older stormscopes. L3 suggests a new antenna to perhaps reduce the problem. Anyone have experience with just changing the antenna to get more accurate reception? There are used ones out there for as little as $100, but with unknown abuse factor.

1970 M20F for sale with REBATE
globalpolygraph replied to globalpolygraph's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
The airplane is still in Robbinsville NJ (Air Mods) along with all the log books. You can review them there, but I have no way to get them in the next few weeks. The annual has been completed but needs to go through a few flights before they give it a final blessing. Plus I have to pay them. LOL- 22 replies

globalpolygraph replied to globalpolygraph's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
The plane is back on the market, but is still in annual at Air Mods (Robbinsville NJ). If anyone would like to see it there, I can arrange it. All the logs are with Air Mods as well. Please note that the original rebate no longer applies as the plane will now come with a fresh annual from a Mooney certified service center.- 22 replies

1970 M20F for sale with REBATE
globalpolygraph replied to globalpolygraph's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
Due a laundry list of issues that I have to address/repair the buyer canceled the sale. These issues will be addressed over the next few weeks and then the plane will be available again, although the rebate will no longer apply because it will now have a fresh annual by a certified Mooney service center.- 22 replies

** UPDATE ** I have accepted a verbal offer on the plane of $42,500, but nothing is in writing yet. I will continue to take offers on the plane until the sale has been completed. If anything goes wrong with the process then I'll get back to those who have made offers. Thanks - Mike- 22 replies

Pretty much the same with any aircraft, about $10K to $30K not including installation. The wing leveler works entirely off the turn/bank indicator. It works very well, but would not likely be a part of a complete autopilot. I could be wrong... an avionics shop could better answer your question.- 22 replies

I wrote to Dave Lopresti yesterday about this add-on for my Exec and he wrote back to say it was only for J models and not available for my lowly F. How did you score one? Any performance feedback yet?
