  1. Heres to blue skies and tailwinds for both of you. Mines tore apart so I will use the holiday for some quality hanger time.
  2. www.vintagemooneygroup.com
  3. I agree it is a minor deal really. The NDT shop here offered to do mine for nothing, I guess I am worried it will become mandatory down the road. If I wait till next winter I lose my ability to get the hub for half price as I would be over the 6 year time or 1000 hrs SOH they put as a limit on that deal.
  4. I repaired mine. Nothing like having a TIG, mill, and lathe in the garage.
  5. Well I got my copy in the mail a week or so ago and have decided to go the terminating route. I struck a deal with Hartzell for $2500 dollars for the new hub and reseal/change blades. Some times it pays to follow manufactuers recommended maint procedures and times. That said how many of you guys are going with the 100hr eddy current inspection and how many are getting the new hub?
  6. I lived on L22 Yucca Valley for 5 years and would never live on an airpark again. Politics, Problems and no privacy were the killers for me.
  7. Well I wasn't going to post on this thread, but what the hay. I gave up on MAPA in 02' after the big internal shakeup that ended with Trey Hughes back at the helm. It is my opinion that MAPA is a vehicle for Falcon much like MOA is for Mooneymart. I think both offer a good magazine with some interesting reading from the best Mooneydom has to offer, for me though its not worth the price of admission. I get most of what I need to know from AOPA, and a forum like this will help a lot in the Mooney specific arena.
  8. I tried to start a photo gallery today and could not find the "browse" or "upload" buttons. I figured it out it was flash player causing the problem.
  9. I guess I can post an intro here. My name is Mike and I am addicted to aviation. I am a retired A/P inspector from Skywest Airlines and mainly worked out of KPSP and KLAX. My flying life started in 1973 in a C-170 with my first owned aircraft being a Luscombe 8A, 1571K. I started my Mooney experience in 1998 with a 1957 150 horse woodpecker. I bought my current C in St Charles Il in 2000 and still have it. I have not flown the last couple years due to a medical issue with uric acid but should get medically recertified within a couple months. I am real glad to find this forum, like others the e-mail thing just did not work for me.
  10. So has anyone switched to the new 406 ELT? I need a new battery for mine and wonder if I should upgrade now or wait? I see that 91.207 has not been changed since 2000. Wonder how long that will last?
  11. Well for all you guys that want a Vintage Mooney Group I can tell ya its real easy to do. Richard Todd And I started the VMG one morning in his hanger in Big Bear, and I gotta tell you I am damn proud of how it has blossomed. All ya got do is send out post cards to all the registered Mooney owners in your area and they will come. The first couple years was a lot of fun for us. I moved to MI in 2005 so I can no longer attend. I miss that aspect of the west coast.
  12. As a long time A&P/IA I'm pretty sure you are the victim of a "wall job". Thats where once you get the aircraft apart and it can't leave you get pushed to the back of the shop in order to get fresh meat in the door. Sad deal but I have seen many owners who run there shop like this. There is no reason for your annual to take that long period.
  13. Living in So Cal most of my life I am familiar with turbulance and I think my Mooney rides as good or better than most of the comparable aircraft i have owned. I do slow way down in turbulance in any airplane, much better to let the wing stall as opposed to bending. I was in Rialto one day and say a Mooney with the wings actually wrinkled and bent from an encounter with severe turbulance. As I remember it was a newer aircraft and the Mooney factory was real interested in examining it. Any how our one piece wings are very tough.
  14. I have been using a Skytec 149-1215 for 5 years and have had no problems. As already stated the extra cranking speed helps, in particular with my old Bendix shower of sparks mags.
  15. My PC works flawlessly so I have never had to mess with it. Add me to the list of people that disable it on local flights and TO/landings. I have removed it and used rubberbands. The best rubberband I had was real wide and it came from the produce section of the local grocery store.
  16. Manuals, service and parts. The parts manual can sure bail you out if you forget how something goes together.
