  1. Quote: 74657 Allsmiles - How does a Missile or Rocket negatively effect the value of an airplane? Do you mean in terms of re-sale or aquisition or a reduction in "efficiency" because of the larger engine? I paid more for my Missile than any comparable J was listed at. In terms of performance, it is equal or better than an Ovation and is ~35-50AMU's less. Nothing against the Ovations, I would have loved to landed in one but the Missile was in my price range whereas the O was at the top and would have left me with little reserve for any upgrades. I think for the money, a Rocket or Missile will give you more bang/buck when compared to an Acclaim/Ovation if you are talking about speed/efficiency.
  2. It's not a matter of faith in quality. It's strictly a matter of value.
  3. Quote: carusoam One of these days allsmiles will have one and claim it to be "the best mooney ever"-
  4. Quote: Kwozzy Is a broker neessary in an aircraft deal (purchase or sale)? What do they do and what do they charge?
  5. I wonder what's worse: a vacuum failure or an Aspen malfunctioning and going blank, in IMC or on an approach down to mins. I have no experience with either so I'm looking for some insight.
  6. Quote: Toflyordie Has anyone had any negative issues with Aspen? It seems very reasonable for Glass upgrade.
  7. When buying an airplane you look at speed, efficiency and cost of ownership. The Mooney covers these bases extremely well. It is the best airplane in its class. The Mooney M20J (201) is the best Mooney ever made.
  8. Quote: aviatoreb Shakespeare flew a Mooney?
  9. Quote: fantom Mooney ist die einzige Weise, zu gehen, und Computer zu ändern.
  10. Quote: KSMooniac Another wrinkle on the Mooney market is the *efficiency* of all models relative to others in the market. With $6+ 100LL, MPG comparisons start to enter the mind as a primary characteristic and I feel that is a reason that Mooneys are holding more of their value relative to the rest of the market. (I think it is also why I seem to hear a disproportionately high number of Mooneys on ATC frequencies when traveling...many B, C and P owners are not flying as much!)
  11. Is this even a question? ...eah... Mooney! ...and if you can't post right you definitely need to Mooney!
  12. Quote: flyboy0681 Agreed, supply and demand at play here.

  15. An airplane purchase is an economic intangible and cannot be quantified by traditional economic theories. The physical object has a certain dollars and cents value which could be quantified, I suppose, but it has an intangible component. That is in the pride of ownership and the inner enjoyment only it's owner/pilot can feel. That feeling of going to the airport and taking to the skies anytime you feel like it and just because you can. Or merely opening the hangar door sitting on a chair and admiring this beautiful machine. This intangible value is so much greater and it is different for every owner. To me this intangible is priceless. I didn't buy my airplane to make money on it as an investment. I bought it for this inherent and intangible value. Therefore with the right attitude, it is always a buyer's market for an airplane!
  16. Quote: docket I don't think you can configure it to display that data in the settings menu. I am no expert, however, as I only have about two months of experience behind the 750/650
  17. Quote: jetdriven ...hours really are meaningless, from an airworthiness standpoint. If there was an airframe life limit, the FAA would have placed one on it, such as the Piper Tomahawk, Cirrus, or P-Baron.
  18. AOPA is the only game in town. They are there in DC where we need our voices heard.
  19. There are two items on an aircraft that cannot be changed. The TTAF and damage history. These things you are stuck with. Unlike engine, prop, paint, interior, and avionics for example. Any aircraft valuation expert will tell you it is always desirable to purchase an airplane with most of the avionics you want already installed. And avionics can be changed! Why then would you consider buying an aircraft with items, such as high time, that cannot be changed? Personally I'd keep looking.

  22. My experience is with the KFC150 AP/FD. It has been trouble free and a solid performer. I like the fact that each button has one and only one function. This is very important to me and it is not so with others. This makes it very predictable and extremely user friendly. Also it performs its functions very precisely. It is everything an autopilot should be. I love it.
  23. Rainman, in the interest of a balanced perspective, there is really nothing special about our Mooney interiors that you need an "expert". Everything from plastics to carpet to leather can be very easily and economically redone. All at a fraction of what some "experts" want to charge! I'd save the big bucks for your panel and/or engine if and when you need it! Just my opinion based on my experience and YMMV. Check out my gallery and pm me for details if you want.
