  1. Tim, When another person from MooneySpace contacted me about the 155, I assumed it was you. How many people in this world would actually want a 20 year old GPS?? Sorry the deal did not work out for you, there are plenty on ebay. Let it go. Mike

  3. Quote: borealone Hey folks - planning to head to Cat Island for Xmas w/ family. This thread is extremely helpful. Does anyone have any beta on either MYCA or MYCB, or the island in general? I have a house down on Cat and fly down there a BUNCH! The runways are fine, but there are not tie-downs so be sure to bring some chocks. If you fly into MYCA stay at "sammie T's" resort. If you fly into MYCB, stay at Fernandez Bay Resort. There is no AVGAS on Cat, the closest fuel is MYEH (North Eleuthera). Have fun, I will be there with my family 12/26-1/1. If you are on the Island I will be happy to show you around. Mike
  4. My m20F had a Kline rebuild from a previous owner. I had nothing but troubles with it and it required a rebuild after 800 hours. I would RUN AWAY from these guys. Mike

  6. Antares, I am based at Albert Whitted and fly a M20F, let me know if I you would like to go for a ride. Also, Neil, the owner of Pilot Mall has a VERY nice Ovation. Oh, whatever you do stay AWAY for the Mooney "dealer" in Sarasota! Mike
  7. Quote: N601RX The one you have already found is the one I used in my F model. Me too!

  10. Hi guys, I tried to find the "Gee Bee" Baffle kit on the Internet and and on aircraft spruce's website and could find anything? Can someone please point me in the right direction? THANKS!!

  12. Peter O is a nice airport PIE (St. Pete Intl) is right across the bay from Yankees stadium and is another good option. I will be at the game Monday 3/28 if ya need a ride.
  13. Quote: georgeb OK, so you've figured out the prop, yes it was a top prop issue and their customer support went out of their way to take care of the their side of it. In the interim though, we mutually agreed to have the plane ferried to Florida for repairs and there it sits. So if anyone's in the vicinity of Sarasota that's willing to lend a fellow mooney pilot a hand, by all means make yourself known. I want to at least be assured that it's not just sitting there with nothing being done to it while other planes are getting the the shops resources. From the few pictures I've received, I can see a progress, but not 5 months worth. George George, I am in St. Pete and will be happy to help!
  14. Opa Laka is a good one: http://www.miami-airport.com/opalocka.asp
  15. How about the 'ol seat belt around the yoke trick??
  16. Prop, I will be flying up to Medina, OH, in a few weeks for a long weekend. If you would like to drop by, i will be happy to let you sit in my M20F. Mike
  17. Guys. I have FIRST HAND experience with Kline rebuilds in my M20F. I purchased my M20F three years ago with a 300 hour Kline rebuild, and have nothing but trouble with it. At the pre buy we discovered that the camshaft was making metal. To his credit Kline took the engine back and replaced the cam/followers/main bearings/pistons/ and valves -- for free. Then about a year later, the AP noticed that there were cracks in the rear jugs which were the result of a previous weld job at the original Kline rebuild. Now after three years / 400 hours and persistent oil leaks I think I have the bugs worked out of the engine and all is good. I would not recommend Kline.
  18. Dan, I PM'd a reply to your question on the Florida site. I got my Mooney with only 80 hours with zero retract time. At a $70k hull value the insurance was $2,200 the first year and it has kept dropping steadily, now with IFR and 500hrs retract it's down to $1,200. I would get you PPL in a 172 then jump into a Mooney ASAP. Mike
  19. Allegro, I upgraded my 327 to a 330 a few months ago and now hear the same "sparking" noise on my Zulu's!!! My transponder antenna is located behind the exhaust pipe. Once it starts getting on my nerves I now know what to do. I owe you a beer! Mike
  20. Might be time for a new EGT probe.
  21. Thanks for everyone's reply! I have a '68 M20F Mike
  22. Hi guys, I am wondering what type of settings/fuel flow and real world speed you are seeing in your M20F's? I am thinking I am not running my "optimally" as I usually average around 140 knots or so..... THANKS! Mike
  23. If your friend is serious about it, I will be happy to go and take a look at it. If the plane is in Clearwater FL, I live 10 miles from the airport. Also, the A&P that works on my Mooney could give it the once over as well. I am sure he would charge something, but a quick glance would not be all that expensive. He would also be a good guy for the prebuy as well. Mike
