    Listen to CTAF at least 10 miles out... at 5 miles you have a great sight picture... its simple to blend... speed up or slow down... communicate location and midfield intention... if you planned poorly, turn upwind... no aggressive maneuvers required.

    Wow! Bad luck, but I’m surprised we don’t see more of this. A Mooney friend chipped his prop at Monument Valley at a fly-in, hundreds of miles from help.
