  1. Mooney memorabilia is cool!
  2. We certainly do!!!
  3. My dad was an engineer for Mooney from 1964 - 1969. He was the lead designer of the retractable step, an associate engineer on the design on the Mustang, ( he was against the roll cage concept and drew up a conventional pressurized tube design but was rejected) and lead AI/AP of the three assembly lines, back when they needed all three lines. We were cleaning out storage and came upon these items. I also found his Embry Riddle tie tack.
  4. She also found two of these ashtrays. They do not say a model, or any other identification for that matter, but they are definitely '60's. I will keep one. Would anyone like the other?
  5. Check out what my wife came across!! Authentic 1960 something Mooney Ranger Swag!! She found a total of ten. Six of which are in their original wrapper, ugly as they are. Would anyone like one? Sincerely David.
  6. I believe that is the Black Vulture, not the Turkey Vulture. The head looks like the Black. The Black Vutures have big white spots on the bottom of the wings, the Turkey Vutures have a much more turkey looking head. Fun fact. What we grew up calling buzzards, is because of the German immigrants in the 1800's called them buzzards, because they don't have vultures in Germany. They have buzzards
  7. Is there a rental car or courtesy car on the field to drive to Amarillo? Fly to Amarillo get a rental there?
  8. What's the best way to fly-in, tour, musical, you know....be a tourist? Any advice? Thanks in advance David.
  9. For those needing a battery replaced in their 430's, I recommend Daniel Smith in Burnet, TX. My 430 unit was at a shop for three months when they finally told me they were not comfortable with the procedure. Just slightly upsetting. I was recommend to Daniel's Avionics by a different shop. I made an appointment. I had already purchased a battery and drove the unit and battery to the FBO at FBMQ He was finished in less than two hours, complete with testing and re-testing. The battery I supplied was the correct one, but, the tiny pins were slightly wider apart and thicker than what came out. He had to delicately bend and grind down the pins. He made it work. Competent work and experienced. Fly-in, take your unit out, and fly out in around three hours. $220

  10. This is not unprecedented. The flood of '32 was very bad I heard the stories of the old timers talk about it.. '78 wiped out Center Point, TX, taking many lives and campers. '87 was another bad one, taking many RV'ers lives and a school bus of 10 summer campers fleeing the flood waters. Growing up, the river flooded all the time. It was normal to us. If the rain hits Kerrville, the river does not swell so much. If the headwaters of the Guadalupe are hit with heavy rains, as this was the case with all the major floods, seek high ground immediately. This one happened so fast and after midnight. Flood warnings and evacuation warnings were every 15 minutes on my phone starting at 11pm. Knowing all this doesn't make it less sad. The airport is full of choppers and search planes. KERV is definitely serving it's part. Mooney factory has a dry creek that feeds the river but did not backfill enoughto reach inside the factory. I "think" that happend with the '78 flood.
  11. Hey you techie types. How do you get to the back side of this green board? Being the CB I am, I want to check the connection of the telephone wire to the back side of this panel. After three remotes all having the same symptoms, I am now leaning to a disconnect on one of the four wires of the telephone wires. I can't get the green board to move though. I just don't want to spend another $1000 in this annual to upgrade to a 406 ELT.
  12. Home grown tomatoes, only.
  13. Just for kicks, I got a charter quote. A Pilatus round trip from Kerrville was $22k A jet was $34k. Hehe. Like I said, just for kicks. Hehe.
  14. I will be the last week in September. Got a problem though. One more passenger has confirmed. I may now have to go commercial.
  15. Well Hank, I look at this two ways. First is no one flies into Melbourne, or second, stay the heck away from Melbourne.
