Just got back from a 5hr cross country and noticed oil drops coming out of this metal tube. Oil looked pretty clean and not all black like what was running along the nose gear door. Added a Quart about 7 hrs ago after about 10hrs on a fresh change.

No clouds, or rain (just starting instrument now).

You could be at the cutting edge and get the Roam from Starlink https://www.starlink.com/roam Martin Pauly had a video where he used it flying and sounds pretty cool. Aside from the large upfront cost, the contracts are month to month so you're not locked it.

Wondering if this could be from my quick drain. I often notice a small drop of oil on the end of it.

Are these stains normal? They seem to accumulate more over time but oil consumption is a quart every 10ish hours. Just a drip or two of oil on the hangar floor between flights and everything else is working well. I added a quart before my 2hr flight today to bring up the level to a total of 7qts and this is what it looked like after. Prior to the flight it had those stains but not as "heavy". What do you guys think, is this cause for concern? Thanks for your wisdom!

Just finished up a METAR map for my local area (image attached) and seeing if there's interest from other people if I start putting these together and sell? Would be custom maps for your area and sizes could range from: 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 18x24, 24x36. Number of led lights would range from 10 to 100 depending on size and density of area. Pricing is estimated from $100 for the 5x7 to $500 for the 24x36 which includes shipping but no frame. It's a pretty slick setup and a light can be added to any METAR reporting airport https://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/metar.php. Green-VFR, Blue-MVFR, Red-IFR, Pink-LIFR, Yellow-Windy and you will need wifi coverage so the map can constantly update. There are some custom settings like the threshold to indicate windy (over X KTS), set a time to turn LEDs off and back on, indicate lightning, and indicate icing. Just did my first oil change in Sept and used Form a Funnel under the filter and had no spills. But a newbie question about the filter, sounds like oil flows from the center through the media, is that correct? If so, any metal/FOD should be trapped in the inner filter media? I opened my filter to inspect and inside was nice and clean but then I started to worry seeing some small slivers on the outside part of the media. After thinking, I chalked it up to flakes coming off when I cut into the can but wanted to make sure.

This spring is obscenely expensive (cost might be justified based on run size and risk) and I'm seeing if some can be made for much less. I've been in contact with a spring manufacturer and to move to the next step they need a print with tolerances. Thinking that is proprietary info, but checking to see if that document exists in the public domain? If someone has an unused spring, I can get it 3D scanned to make a file from it and send it back to you. Tough part might be figuring out the metallugry.

Thanks guys, seeing some good interest just in the day of the post being up so I reached out to the first company to give them an idea of what I'm looking for, mentioning it might have to be through a PMA so I'll keep you updated on what they come back with. Hey All, Doing some research on the no back clutch spring (https://mooney.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SBM20-282A.pdf), it looks like these things are: 1) Controversial in thinking of replacing based on the Mooney SB or leaving alone as if it ain't broke don't fix it 2) Hard to get with long lead-times 3) Stupidly expensive In my last annual they noted my spring was past recommended replacement time and I should start thinking about getting on the list to buy one. After I picked my eyes up off the ground and popped them back into my head from seeing the price of this tiny spring, I thought there has to be another source. So, I'm trying to see if I can find a spring manufacturer who can make these as I work to support industrial automation and we have a few spring manufacturers in my area. Luckily, we are heavy into aerospace and defense in CT so these companies are already making parts for commercial and military aircraft. With that said, I am asking for this groups help to see if you think this effort would be futile or worthwhile? I have put up a poll to see who might be interested in purchasing a spring if we can get them made for a much more reasonable price and to the same spec/quality. I'll use this number as a basis for a small run if the manufacturer is able to produce them to get rough pricing to share with the group. From the specification side, does anyone have documentation, drawings, or anything else that would be helpful for the manufacturer to review to determine if they can make the spring? If I'm being too ambitious and someone else has tried this before without success please let me know, I'm just hopeful there is another avenue and source to get these critical parts we need at a reasonable price. Interesting, I've been flying 15 deg flaps abeam the numbers and 90kts then full flaps base and final at 80kts. I'm always adjusting MP on final to slow down and get the 500' /min descent and feel like Ioney around with it too much. What speeds are you flying full flaps abeam, base, and final? Sounds like you turn final sooner than having the runway at a 45 deg off your side?

My 1990 J has a combined Strobe & Nav light fixture on each wing but I'm wondering if the flash tube is the same. First picture is the wingtip and second is the tail.

Thanks very much for the 3M Dual Lock recommendation, this stuff is working great. Replaced my flimsy Velcro with the 3M to hold up my headset controller. Also put little squares on the corner of each visor and attached to the ceiling to stop them from creeping down.
