I don’t have a family but I’ve had some 6’ people in the back of my 231 and they said it was fine, “plenty of room”. My useful load is about 950 or so I think? Haven’t had to push it in a while. The CG is super forward though, which hasn’t ever been a problem. Absolutely love my 231, just wish Jimmy has set me up with a better pre-purchase inspection, as I’ve dumped thousands in to what I now know should have been caught.

PIREP: Jet Shades removable tinted shades
natdm replied to tim417's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Yeah I've heard that a few times from you and @Skates97. I've got the material but just didn't like the bubbles I saw in it. If you use soap to remove the bubbles, but then put it back on, there's more bubbles. Out the door with the OSH discount and DIY kit, $700, to get all 4 covered plus the front, isn't too shabby. -

Half-done. More of a pain than I thought. I scratched the front with scissors and over-bent the back in an area (I think), so it's got a crease. Don't even know when I did that. Overall though, looks great. The custom kit came with enough to be able to do a strip over the front window when I'm done, if I can figure a way to keep it there. -

That’s amazing! I wanted to get closer. I should have just asked for vectors past it. They were super chill at 11pm

I've got my mini 6 mounted on the yoke with a FlyBoys mount, so it's quick to attach and detach. I've been trying to use it for departure and approach, but keep it tucked away for cruise. I noticed myself looking down at the iPad instead of enjoying the view a lot and didn't like that.

Just a quick flight past the Chicago skyline via the VFR flyway. Now just a minute from our sponsor, Ridge Wallet.

I've got a tie-down there and they're as anti-GA as it gets. Though seeing the planes there is super cool at times. @N201MKTurbo is right. CHD is typically the best one near Gateway area. As busy as it gets, it's not as busy as Falcon.

It was an error all around. I was getting a EX1021 error. Something to do with the forum running low on space.

Overhaul - what happens to the replaced parts?
natdm replied to TGreen's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Just got my engine overhauled. I didn't get any parts back. -

Holy crap. That two tone looks superb... I have leather-wrapped yokes and now you make me want to redo my entire interior. Those aren't the regular C yokes, no? I went to look at their site to look at examples, and.. my plane is the example. https://aerocomfort.com/mooney/. Guess I should fly it to them some time and ask for a refresh like yours. -

Been trying to get the Osh discount for a set of these. The Mooney on the site is not "all mooneys" and they knocked $300 for Osh and $200 for the extra panels, but I still might opt for a DIY kit to make sure it fits. @tim417 not related to the shades but can I get a pic of that panel/yoke? That wrap looks stellar. -
After a 2 minute taxi for fuel, my F wouldn’t start
natdm replied to gwav8or's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I need this for Continentals, for my K. -
This is absolute insanity. I love it. Curious about power settings, speed, etc. Just do a bad-ass write-up of it all. Fuel flow Gallons used TAS at altitudes Engine settings Gatorade bottles filled Did you have a plan for code-brown while over the water etc

I'd disagree on the "it does not happen often". I've been on military forums, airsoft forums, motorcycle forums, etc etc, and it's happened here more than any of those. I have no earthly idea why @1980Mooney's thread about my prop strike got deleted. I really tried my best to add as much information there so people could learn from my mistake. I'm still a little upset that it got deleted and it's always in the back of my mind when I can't find a thread I was reading the day before that it probably got nixed by an admin and I won't know why, so I can't do my best to prevent it again.
-
I wish there was more context behind the action when this stuff happens. Any admin able to chime in as to why things just vanish without a known reason? I've been on other forums where a thread gets locked, and then offending posts edited to obscure any relevant information, and admin posts why it's locked. That's at least a thread we could find, still learn from, and know why it got locked. There's been a few threads here that I was on that got deleted. Mainly the one where I got a prop-strike and I heavily participated in the thread since I thought it could be a documented learning experience, only for it to get deleted. I still have no idea why a post with many replies where I explicitly call out I'd like people to learn from it, and it was about me, got deleted. Gave a very "disappearing behind Creedy's black bag" from "V for Vendetta" feeling.

Congrats! Wow, that's crazy.

I'm willing for you to try it on your airplane. If you do, though, take before/after pics for the rest of us to learn from.

Another KFC 200 Autopilot Issue (won't level out)
natdm replied to natdm's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
That's good to know. I've emailed a place suggested to me in Kansas that might be able to help. -
Another KFC 200 Autopilot Issue (won't level out)
natdm replied to natdm's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Was hoping for someone to just nail the suggestion but I think that's what I'll do. -
Here's a video of this in action. It just started doing this. I have the AP on, HDG mode, and GPSS. I turn the cursor to the right, it turns right, but somewhat slower than it seemed to do on the previous flight. I then turn it back left and it turns left, but slowly. I then press the cursor in to get straight and level/current heading as the course and the AP just continues to turn. I've tested it on the ground and turning the cursor left/right does deflect the ailerons. I do have an iPad mounted in the video but it's centered and I've never had this issue so I don't think that weight is an issue. I've got a suggestion from some friends to call a few shops but before I do that, figured I'd ask here.

New Mooney Summit Facebook Group and Instagram Page

I thought it was always supposed to be "X, formerly Twitter..." -
Toto tow, as in "tow tow tow"? It looks awesome but I've gotta inquire about the name.

I’d like to know more.. there’s some decent options out there now I thought but I’ve still got some homemade one.

PIREP for flying with a cat: We definitely went high, 11500. He was totally fine and loved to be pet. He was also slightly drugged. When we hit some turbulence and heat down below, he did what I’ve nearly done a few times and let it go out of both ends. The day after, he was totally fine for the next flight.
