  1. It doesn't quite lay that perfectly flat no - will add pics when I'm out at the hangar again this weekend
  2. So a follow-up to this thread ... I finally got around to removing the seat backs. It was very difficult to remove the seat back cushion from the aluminum frame, but eventually I was able to get it off. What's left in the plane is the aluminum seat back frame folded down into the seat well - each seat back frame is held on by 1 hitch pin as mentioned above. The question ... do you guys remove that hitch pin & seat back frame as well, or just leave it folded into the seat well? It seems like it might just be easier going forward to pull the hitch pin on each seatback and just remove the entire seatback frame + cushion rather than fighting friction between carpeted pieces to remove the cushion from the seatback frame.
  3. Alright we're back in it - RIP to my wallet!
  4. Welp, nevermind then.
  5. @FlybyNite did you get a quote from them? I have a J with flat plates - curious what cost would be to add them as well.
  6. ...all we know is, HE'S CALLED THE STIG!
  7. How does it compare to TTaylor's and DXB's #s above? Also - can you share the print file for that stick? Love the idea!
  8. My guess is the tornado that directly hit KJWN this spring. Seemed to direct hit some nice fully managed hangars, but avoid a lot of smaller t-hangars.
  9. Super helpful, thanks all! Will give it a shot next time I’m at the plane. I can’t believe those cushions are 26lbs total?!?! Insane. PS - @gsxrpilot I also recently replaced my gma340 with pma450b based largely on your feedback that it helped a lot with random airframe feedback/noise - you were spot on, great upgrade and been really enjoying it. Thanks!
  10. New to me 77 J had a modern interior installed at Mooney factory in ‘07 (removed old bench seat then). Are these seats removable? What do the 2 black pull handles down by the fire extinguisher do?
  11. I’d have to add G5s, and install the 500. So 20+AMU vs 1.5 to 3...bit of a different ballpark. Hoping to hold out for a full Dynon system but not pulling the trigger on that until they cert the AP.
  12. Interesting - called on that and it's more expensive now than just sending it back for a minor. Appreciate the tip though! This would be perfect, except that I need a 14v Appreciate the help though!
  13. Thanks - just sent him an email! More accurate numbers ... $1500 to $3000 depending on scope of repair.
  14. I’ve been told minimum of $1200 up to $2000 - figured I’d try a different head unit in mine first for less than that before going the route of sending back, if possible of course. Let me read up and see if that would help me at least test my setup. I think the newer 55Xs (mine included) have a different rack mount so might not fit.
  15. As title says, looking to replace mine instead of paying for full Genesys overhaul, which is $$$$. My current one is PN 01192-6-1T and modified for use with King KCS55A Figured I'd check here in case any of you have one sitting around!
  16. Pulled from my panel to upgrade to bluetooth. No issues whatsoever, works great. Can include tray & mount kit if needed. SOLD
  17. Met up with A&P today - checked torque on all injectors and all fuel lines into/out of the divider, etc. Everything checked fine. Ran the fuel pump twice to pressurize the lines and saw no leaks. Then ran the engine for a few minutes & inspected again - no leaks on the injectors, divider, or line - all checked fine. Cleaned off the stains and will do a few laps around the pattern in the next day or two when I get a chance to see if I can replicate in normal flight, but so far all signs point to stains being from an older event - had the injectors all removed for cleaning in March by Air-Mods in NJ, so perhaps that's it?
  18. Thanks all - I’ll check all connections tomorrow and report back. Hoping it’s just a loose injector or something similar. The gami tag is a bit loose so it could have worn over time, the AD inspection was done in December for these lines.
  19. you can see in the picture it looks like there is a bit of blue on the fuel line, I rubbed it off and there didn’t appear to be a pinhole there, but not sure where else the blue on the fuel line would’ve come from. Maybe it’s a tiny pinhole? Not sure how a metal one would just develop a pinhole. I’ll check connections - the torque mark on the injector looked undisturbed. I did not check the divider connecting on the other side of the line though.
  20. Just landed from 4 hour XC today - was checking the engine access panels right after flight and saw this. Honestly don’t remember seeing it before flight but suppose it could’ve been there - is this #3 fuel line leaking and that’s the blue staining on the engine side of the firewall? Or am I just losing my mind... also ... wouldn’t that have caused a fire if it was leaking in flight?
  21. I'm working through some audio issues on a new to me aircraft and hoping this group can help me troubleshoot. I finished a cross country yesterday and had a couple controllers tell me transmissions were hard to hear. Prior to this, I had to adjust my sidetone down on the GNS480 a little while back since my mic was picking up so much background noise and was very loud when I was transmitting, so I'm guessing ATC is getting all the background noise in my transmissions too. From reading up on the systems, it appears that the GNS480, the GMA340, and my A20 all do not have any mic gain adjustments? Is that true? I also know in the logbook that some avionics work done a little over a year ago states that "ATC complains of scratchy and broken transmissions. Action: adjusted transmitter mic gain. Installed isolation washer on mic & phn jacks" The prior owner was using A20s as well to my knowledge. Is there a gain adjustment in the GMA340? Is that what the shop is referring to when they say "transmitter mic gain" ? I'm wondering what else I can try to reduce the amount of background noise my transmissions have. Backup comm is a SL30 - same issue there, loud sidetone & tons of background noise being picked up in transmissions.
  22. So how was this install done then? Sorry for the dumb question - if you put in a new, custom cut panel like he did here, couldn't you still fit 2 10" displays in a J?
  23. Has that been confirmed from Dynon? I was looking at doing the same with my J this winter, - I didn't think it would be an issue since they're relatively thin screens & all the add on units are remotely located from the screen itself?
  24. Great report! How did you mount yours on the panel like that?
