  1. Totaled... and to beat me up more, has a lien on it I didn’t know... been on it the last 11 years. Don’t know if the company is even in business... -Don
  2. I did both on mine. Super clear great fit from Lake Aero: -Don
  3. Thanks! Just so folks see what I had done 'before' the off-airport landing: Beautiful Smoked UV SC Lake Aero Windshields that fit perfect: Other side with new OAT/Carb Temp gauge: Down and up lock blocks: Was a great day to fly too -- haze was a bit much but still was very excited about flying... -Don
  4. After being away from flying for 20 years and just starting to flying again, buying and updating a very nice plane, then shi* happens. It just goes to show, even with all the ‘proper’ steps/maintenance, some things are just gonna happen. All things considered, it was a great outcome. The Mooney is one tough bird! -Don
  5. I said a lot more than that - after we got out of the plane — but to myself ;o) -Don
  6. Lol.. Yep, never had a doubt we'd land and be ok - was concerned about the ruts in the empty corn field. Those were crazy. The one that collapsed the nose gear was deep. If that was not there... Hine-sight is 20/20... -Don
  7. Just a few of my photos... -Don
  8. I hope so! Tail hit just a little bit from the bounce. Time will tell I guess... -Don
  9. No shoulder belts but we had excellent speed control. If it was not for that birm, we would have been on all 3 instead of 2. -Don
  10. Insurance will let me know... They may but I'm not sure. Right now, just waiting for the FAA folks to get here... Engine just quit.. Attempted restart.. Picked a field.. Thank God for Texas and all the open fields.. Plane is south of here... 33.138096,-96.201238 -Don
  11. I'm good, so is my instructor.. Hard to believe but, once it would not restart, we both did our part. He flew, I did the Johnson bar... Landing was great until the little birm. Nose gear went... Engine was out.. -Don
  12. Ugh... Engine out 10 minutes after takeoff. I'm just... um... -Don
  13. I use detail juice and boost juice from Garry Dean. About 1 gallon of water, 2 buckets (1 with clean microfiber towels, one for dirty). Then some waterless wash, finish with detail spray... on the outside... Adams interior cleaners on the inside... nice and quick... i clay bar often as it removes quite a bit of junk — after I do a ‘cleaning’ wash. Clay-bar with detail spray or a good lube the do a what it needs... -Don
  14. Humm, good idea on the rudder/tail-cone stringer... -Don
  15. Current updates are done! Gonna pick her up Monday. When fuel gauge gets in, I’ll have the AP do that. Can’t wait to fly her! i have the rudder bell horn so I can do the update to what the C models can do. If anyone knows who to contact about what it takes (paperwork would be awesome), I’d like to show my AP that so we know what to do... Fun times ahead! -Don
  16. Ditto, Dawley did mine. Don Maxwell sent it to them for OH... -Don
  17. Yep but, that will probably be an engine analyzer for me with that option installed. Its on a 'future' path for me ;o) Insight G3 or G4, or EDM 900 -- time will tell... -Don
  18. I did but for my mission right now, this is what I wanted to stay with. Only so much funds right now and this will be better than a single gauge. I gave it a lot of though and decided to just get this and go from there... -Don
  19. Keeping with the theme of safety items, I ordered the Aerospace Fuel Gauge 202 (resistor) version: The 'B' has a single tank gauge with a 'switch' to change from Left to Right tank -- not a fan of that. This will give me a better idea of fuel and, has pages to let me know fuel flow. In the next month, seat belts -- talked to my A&P/IA -- suggested I look @ Hookers -- they've installed them and like how they work. Little by little, getting there... -Don
  20. Went to Edge today to check on progress— new windshield is fantastic! The icom radio had a setting that needed to be set and its working well. New carb/oat instrument is in their hands and is going in. Should have it all ready by early next week. Pics to follow when everything is done. Having the carb ice detection and new blocks are important for sure. Cant wait... Pedal extensions are next when I get her back... -Don
  21. I wanted the edm 700 but, ran out of panel space. I have to go G3 and remove egt or cht as the G3 is good for primary of both. May move suction gauge to the copilots side so I can have the G3 in its place... -Don
  22. Good to know. I’d get that ridge inspected to make sure that did not contribute to your experience. Laser has new blocks btw if it is out of spec. Quick install based on what my AP told me on mine... -Don
  23. I see a ridge in the middle of the block very similar to mine. I’d turn the flash on for the camera and see if it’s as pronounced as it appears. That doesn’t look like the original block. I’d check the logs to see when it was replaced. Edit: Added the pic from my thread.. -Don
