  1. Wow, even with the roll cage. Hard to even speculate what happened. -Don
  2. Question, do you have backup vacuum system for steam gauges? Just ruling that out - sometimes they hook those up to an intake tube… -Don
  3. IFR practice today with CFI, engine doing very well, I have to work earlier to slow her down ;o) CFI noticed the power. Practiced a no flap takeoff, she did fine. So far, oil has remained very stable and so are temps. would have like the AP installed to practice… VOR check good, did the VOR 17 into KGVT and it was right on. -Don
  4. Maxwells or Lasar can rebuild those. Mine was the o-rings crumbled and made it as hard as a brick to turn. The leak I had was the area with the pull ring - Maxwells solved that with a Curtis fuel sump… You can try some 3 in one oil on the shaft or maybe Tri-Flow and work it but, usually that still means it’s due for rebuild… -Don
  5. Have you swapped probes to see if the high EGTs go with the probe? That is also a possibility the probe may be defective. Also a resistance check on the plug would be another check. -Don
  6. My G2 was an older version and the newer screen is improved. I sent it back for repair (EPROM failure) so they offered the upgrade at a reasonable cost. -Don
  7. 20 flight hours, 14 tach hours on the engine, doing well so far. #1 and #4 hottest on climb full power - figured things still tight so start cruise climb earlier and drop RPM to 2500. No oil usage at all since oil change so that is showing stability in oil consumption. Lots of power and cruise is great on temps and fuel consumption so far. Flew yesterday and will tomorrow. Monitoring everything and removing cheek panels to inspect. @ 35 tach hours since IRAN or 3 months, I’ll change oil and restart oil analysis again… -Don
  8. Electric step worked for me… no vacuum system on mine with avionics upgrade… http://flightenhancements.com/index.html @takair sells them… -Don
  9. Something Mike Busch noted would be interesting- E-CB experimental commercial build classification - for the aging fleet. Allowing owners to do what experimentals do…. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2025/march/pilot/savvy-maintenance-worth-the-squeeze -Don
  10. Forgot about that chart! I have that too… -Don
  11. My B had quite a bit of tension and it took some effort to raise and lower the flap handle. No way it would come loose without me doing it. N74562 RIP… -Don
  12. On the back of mine where the white wire is attached on top, that ‘black’ section should be removable (diodes and brushes I think). There is a kit for that to replace. May be what needs changing… -Don
  13. In both my cases, the connector was loose on the wire or broke off. I’d check those first… Very common on our Mooneys… -Don
  14. 6 month lead time to get overhaul… -Don
  15. $35k for overhaul engine only not including hoses etc. All my hoses have already been replaced. Surefly, exhaust, oil cooler, we’re new when I bought the plane. Mag overhaul, prop gov, prop were IRAN by me a couple of years ago. Alternator was oh’d before I bought it. -Don
  16. Yep $23k 3 week turnaround… with new cam, DLC lifters, plungers, pushrods, push rod caps, cylinders, bearings, rod bolts, gaskets, labor, annual, ifr cert, electric step… IRAN ~$20k -Don
  17. @Jerry Pressley or @Alan Fox may have them. -Don
  18. Whole again finally! Garmin had to replace the whole board in the 327. Everything checked out and working again… Autopilot scheduled for the first week of September. Did IFR flight today to confirm everything… IFR training on Saturday, and, need more hours on the engine ;o) -Don
  19. I’d call them. Mine was programmed by them. They may be able to get you the info or suggest sending it in. I had the updated screen put on mine and had it back quickly. -Don
  20. You’ll also likely need one of these 100w USB adapters https://www.mcico.com/truebluepower/6430360-37 https://www.mcico.com/truebluepower/6430360-31 -Don
  21. My Garmin 327 is in - will be getting that tomorrow, thankfully. Now gonna save up for the autopilot and get some hours on this engine. Aircraft ownership does have its ups and downs but, I sure do enjoy flying… -Don
  22. Oil change today to X/C, cut filter and much lower amounts of magnetic and non magnetic flakes! Took her for a normal flight to start learning the new normal. With 10.5 hours on her, gonna be a minute until she normalizes. -Don
  23. Break-in run today — almost 10 hours tach time. I’ll have another flight tomorrow and will change oil to Phillips 20w50 X/C AD. Only 1 quart in 10 hours so far, stable oil consumption…temps are doing great. I expect even better temps once I go AD oil too. #4 is the hottest cylinder but still well in line once a little carb heat and throttle adjustment is done to improve mixture. I’ll cut open the filter after the change tomorrow, do a sanity check then fly it as I normally would… still waiting on the transponder from Garmin. Then, later the autopilot…. Fingers crossed… -Don
  24. Read the fine print if you go priority… -Don
  25. A few things changed now: https://www.pcmag.com/news/starlink-imposes-dramatic-speed-cap-for-those-on-priority-plans https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/starlink-massively-changes-priority-plan-lineup-unlimited-high-speed-data-eliminated/ 350 mph in motion limit for local priority (e.g., US coverage) though — if you want to have it in the plane… $65 month with terminal access and 50 GB high priority data, $25 for each 50 GB - local priority that is… global is much more expensive and less restrictive… -Don
