  1. And yet I have used my cover for 20 years and I have no impact...I am talking about an occasional few days while vacationing not a plane that is tied out all the time vs. a hanger. Just clarifying...Is this what you mean? A tie down ALL THE TIME use of a cover on your plane? In that event I would agree that there would be sun fade on the uncovered area. Enjoy your sunshades. All good by me.
  2. Cover absolutely DOES protect in a heavy rain. I have snaps on the front and paint damage is a non-issue. To each their own, but the cover does provide a level of security protection to as prying eyes have to work to see in. I will always use my Bruce’s cover when on the ramp overnight traveling.
  3. 201er Mike is a strong proponent
  4. I will try it, but it is about comfort as while the ANR is not good like my David Clark non ANR, when off, it does still provide some noise attenuation. 5db? Likely. I am only at 90db so I am fine for noise impact and VERY comfortable with ANR on. I ALWAYS wear earplugs and or muffs when shooting as impact noise at that dB is harmful. The same at concerts (if not I get ringing). I do not have any issues after flight regarding hearing. Great that you still hear ATC with plugs and you like the combination. More is definitely not a bad thing.
  5. Because one is paid for and squak free with <2700tt and 550 on a 2000hr tbo...We shall see. Owners pilot has my number. I hope for a call soon. I hear ya though. My co-owner is in Canada fishing. A lot of pieces in the puzzle as it were or “drama”
  6. I find it entertaining. You find it dramatic. I am good with that.
  7. My plane is not close to 115db and I fly 75 to a 100 hours a year. Do what you wish. I will do the same. I would do more if I believed the ANR alone was not adequate.
  8. I wish we had a third co-owner...Then a no-brainer to be with ya (lower altitude ) grinnin’...
  9. I used up my reactions for day Thanks for a wonderful post. I 100% agree, but finances are a factor and I lived a total refurb once. No regrets, but I love my existing plane (all I really need). The Missile would be living “the dream”.
  10. Over the top? Yup. Kind of like reading (ANR is causing hearing loss instead of preventing it).
  11. Cliff notes: Single engine plane=Mooney 70-90db Occupational workday= 8 hours Allowable noise levels (impact and continuous) 84db 85db or above for eight hours a day day in day out week in week out <84 for day average you are fine. 85-89 you need to have your hearing tested and a baseline established. Ear plugs provided (not mandatory to use). Annual tests to see if a shift in hearing. MANDATORY use of hearing protection required if 8 hour day is >90db Hearing loss is insidious Once attenuation is lost it is lost. Protect your hearing. ANR headsets are NOT the enemy. The exposure you get in GA is NOT likely significant. (I would still wear headset for comfort and ability to hear ATC) Same reason to wear while Cutting grass. A rock concert? Whole different story. Protect your hearing. Wear plugs. Drive with windows down? Likely over 100db + probably turning radio up to hear over the wind. Use your A.C. If you drive a lot for work. Professional pilots? BIG DEAL.
  12. What we have above is a well written kinder/gentler version of what I was trying to...let’s say more directly communicate. Thank you for your words. I appreciate them.
  13. Even though I was likely just called out as a “nutter” I very much enjoyed your points here Tom. I had some VERY strong opinions on the ANR thread. I stand by them. I will, in the future, modify my words to MooneySafeSpace standards.
  14. J, Thank you for a great post! Puts it in perspective for sure. Oh, if only I could get that airframe for $45k. In a fantasy world that would happen. I am willing to pay more. $60-70k would be where I would have to be. Based on a current owner he will either laugh and hang up the phone. Just hang up OR swear at me and then hang up... Sigh...
  15. Thank you. As an owner, like THIS owner of a Missile I believe you are right. In his eyes it likely has that value.....The reality is he paid that when he bought it and then ran the engine to TBO and let it sit for half a decade. I don’t (and would never) value the airframe, as it sits, at $90-110k. I believe the guy needs to take pity on me for this to happen. It is the only Mooney I lust for (over my plane). It will be significantly more to operate and own and require sorting. I am o.k. With that, but I overpaid for an airframe once. NOT going to do that again. If by a stroke of luck I do acquire: I hope to have you on speed dial MO
  16. Yes. -a- gave very good wise council. Thank you -a- very much. Just opening it up for additional insight/opinions.
  17. Yes. THAT is the number that I am looking for. $75 to 80ish is what 20c input. THAT would be “top of the range” in my mind. Primarily due to my experience in bringing back a barn find once and the not likely, but inevitable “issues” that require AMU’s. It is a constant open squak faucet that becomes a trickle that becomes a wonderful dispatchable airframe. I likely would not go that high BUT I appreciate hearing what others Think about it.
  18. I know (not trying to help you have helped). Much appreciated. My comment was regarding humanity and the willingness to “undercut you” when you identify an opportunity YOU found. Unethical and mean spirited are how I would identify those individuals. The ugly side of “business”...
  19. EVERYTHING has been really helpful and appreciated. More input on what to offer for price ALSO appreciated. Help me spend the money. A well sorted E will be on the market if it “goes down”
  20. I agree with all EXCEPT the avionics. Way high here. The engine monitor/auto pilot/Garmins/engine gauges are likely FINE. The Gyro’s? Agree. I did ADSB for under 5k in my E...Not arguing just giving my input/thoughts on avionics. We can wait on the WAAS upgrades. I would likely NOT tie in the ADSB to the 430’s. Good experience with Apple and a 696.
  21. PM me the info. I will tell you if it’s a BINGO. Plane is in Iowa. Owner is NOT.
  22. Yup, that pretty much sums it up. I think the avionics would function much better than portrayed and could certainly be refurbed on the gyros. Discounting heavily on the engine. At by in. My discussion with owner would be this is where I am and why. Pretty sure he will say pound sand, but you never know. I know the guys pilot and his college room-mate. I am not looking for charity, but I will not overpay for an airframe and power plant that need a lot of work. My question still has not been answered. What would you offer on the plane based on the knowns?
  23. This isn’t a treasure hunt. Just PM me if you have loads of cash and must have this plane. I will help you out. (Not sarcasm)
  24. Oh well. I think this is a pipe dream anyway. Jeez people are awesome. (Sarcasm)
  25. I just looked at the plane on Controller. I am talking about a different Missile. It is based in Iowa. It is not listed anywhere yet.
