  1. Would water actually come out of the wing? It looks to me like that plunger (clevis pin) is opening a valve in the pitot line that would just drain inside the wing root.
  2. Thanks all. Well, I worked it some more, scraped off some paint, and got the plunger to retract. Now it is stuck in the retracted (valve open) position.
  3. Recently had the left wing root repainted. This resulted in the pitot drain plunger getting painted over and sealed shut. Will try to get it moving but is this something worth worrying about? In 8 years or so of flying this plane, I have never had moisture come out of that valve in my preflight check.
  4. 2006 G1000-equipped Ovation. On MFD Engine Page, all 6 EGTs right where they should be. On MFD Map Page, with a single EGT display on the left hand side, buggy readings or a red X. Where does this EGT reading come from? It does not correspond to any of the six separate cylinder readings. Is there a 7th probe? If so, where is it located? Thank you.
  5. On the 1st page, you can overlay terrain or weather, but not both. When I have terrain on 1st page, I use the Weather Datalink Page for weather. Would like it to be in the same orientation as the page 1 moving map but not sure that's possible.
  6. On the MFD of a first gen G1000 (year 2006), map chapter, weather page: can you change the orientation from north up to track up? If so, how?
  7. Same
  8. PAPR_20250618_A577A6_591221165.pdf Think this means it was transmitting fine?
  9. Thanks. Everything seems fine today. Go figure.
  10. Thanks. That sounds right. Shot in the dark here: Does the 345-R talk to the G1000 via Bluetooth? I had a tablet and phone with me. I have recently been trying to pair both of them with the 345-R (so I could see traffic/weather on my Electronic Flight Bag). Could they have been trying to auto-pair with the 345-R and messing up it's connection with the G1000?
  11. Intermittent ADS-B failure in flight today. I couldn't see traffic but ATC said they were picking up my ADSB signal just fine. Any ideas?
  12. I'd pull power. Even if shock cooling were a real concern, would a single instance of accelerated cooling really cause harm? Also, adjusting mixture ought to keep CHTs in the green even at low power settings.
  13. Pretty sure they just park you where they are parking GAC when you arrive. In my past recent experience, a Sunday a.m. arrival has gotten me in the North 40, South of runway 9/27, i.e., near the Caravan.
  14. Won't make the Caravan this year, but will be flying into Airventure with my daughter hopefully on Sunday morning and hoping to get parked in the North 40 somewhere near the Caravan. Fingers crossed.
  15. This is not what I expect a safety pilot to do, no matter how many initials they have after their name. Separate point: This has been a great thread!
  16. Me too. And at that cruise setting I typically see true airspeed of 165 kts/hr.
  17. Is there any benefit to the WAAS upgrade other than being able to shoot RNAV approaches when the ceiling is below 500 agl? Can't imagine it makes any meaningful difference for lateral guidance.
  18. Speedbrakes deployed on their own in flight today. Was able to retract the first time. Then they deployed again and would not retract until I landed and turned off the master. Turned the master back on and then they functioned normally. We had a lot of rain last week. Could that have been the cause?
  19. Thank you. Read them. Looks like the system has changed over time. Could not find an answer in these threads specific to the M20R 2006 Ovation.
  20. Just got my 2006 Ovation back after the engine overhaul. The "check gear" warning is not working. POH says it should sound if the gear is up and throttle position is 1/4 inch from idle. My mechanic thinks it is also airspeed dependent. Pretty sure I used to hear it at any airspeed if I pulled throttle to idle. Anyone know whether it is airspeed dependent?
  21. Haven't tried yet. But either that or through the door should work.
  22. So far so good. Easy to put together, easy to use, easy to fold and unfold. Goes 17 mph, says it has a range of about 20 miles, climbs hills fine. I think it will be perfect for short hops from the plane.
  23. Thanks. Definitely don't want them back if they are unusable. If the quote for an overhaul contemplates that the shop will get some value from these parts, that's fine; just didn't know if that is how it works.
  24. Thank you. Yes, that may have been one of my mistakes. It may have been looking for my previous GTX, not the new one. Also, after pairing through my phone or tablet's settings, I think I need to connect through an app that is actually supported by the GTX. So, will forget and re-pair the devices, and will then try to connect through FLTplan Go, as Deb suggested. If that doesn't work I will just forget about it.
