  2. Based at Lubbock Exec. I don't think you'll find a better FBO. There's been a lot of improvements since the new owners took over a couple of years ago(runway extension, resurfaced runway & taxi ways, additional hangars, greatly expanded parking/marshalling area, etc). They recently completed an extensive remodel of the FBO. Always greet you with a cold bottle of water when you open the door, which is great when buttoning up your plane in the heat of a West Texas afternoon.
  3. N201, the part I'm waiting for is 600071-000
  4. Hey All, I have a 62 C and my current annual is delayed waiting for a part with a 9 week lead time. A buddy of mine (not a pilot/airplane owner) reminded me that I have access, through him, to a metal 3D printer. I know of 3d printers but not much else. Has anyone ever created their own parts via a 3d printer and used AC 23-27 as their basis for doing so? I would imagine that there would be a lot more involved but if they can make rocket engines via 3d printers these days....
  5. Have been told by the shop that I need a new starter. Part number MZ-4222 any suggestions as to go the rebuilt route or new route? and suggestions as to who to do the rebuild or which manufacturer go with? have been told that a prior owner had issues with a sky-tech. Thanks in advance
  6. have you gotten estimates from paint shops yet?
  7. had mine on order with Spruce since mid July. Still no word on ship date.
  8. I started out using GP but switched to FF. For me the choice to switch was more of a matter of resources. There were far more pilots at my field that were on FF than GP (like 10 to 1) so it was much easier to ask questions or seek out input from others on how FF worked than it was GP.
  9. Thanks for everyone's input. The problem ended up being the seals in the propeller were going bad. They've been replaced...
  10. i just got done remedying this problem on my 62 C. Your pictures look familiar. The prop ended up needing to be resealed.
  11. I've should have added that the last time (like 3 months ago) I did the eddy inspection and the technician at the prop shop indicated that there was nothing wrong with the prop so based on that quip i don't believe that any grinding of the prop will be needed. If I do get an overhaul done, upgrading to the B hub is on top of the list. I actually had a B hub in my hand at the prop shop i referenced above. The technician told me i could probably get it for like .6 AMU. When I actually talked to a manager type a little bit later, the same hub was a bit over 2 AMU's... even though it was used... Inflation was creeping in even before the election...
  12. Newbie question here. I have a 62 M20c, original A hub. 2 blade Hartzel. it was suggested during my recent oil change that it might be time to look at a prop overhaul. There has been some oil/grease seepage along the back side of the base of the propeller since i bought it 2 years ago. Not a lot but enough to be observable in the right lighting conditions. I've generally just wiped it off once a month or so. It's not really ever seemed to affect the operation of the propeller. My question is, what is usually involved with a prop overall? does it just look at the prop or do they get into all the workings in the spinner? Also, about how many AMU's does one usually go for? Thanks,
  13. Any recommendations for a place to get the 100 hour Eddy Current Inspection done in the New Braunfels TX area? Also my pitot static inspection is coming up too, recommendations on that as well. thanks,
  14. I've had this problem consistently. It just happened the other day and all I did was slid the passenger seat back to make it easier to get to the pilot's side. Additionally this was the first flight back from annual where the mechanic told me he had fixed the seat. The seat seems to slide back ok but jams and is pretty much not going move forward. I have noticed that when ever the seat jams, the seat back is also locked in place. It is impossible to flip/fold the seat back forward to gain access to the rear seats. What I've found is that the right pin (as looking forward from the back of the seat) is pretty much stuck in place. The jamming has become so common that I carry a BFT with me. I've found that with a combination of pulling on the pull cable attached to the pin and liberal application of the BFT I can pop the pin out of which ever of the 3 seat back adjustment holes the pin is in. Once I do that both the seat back and the seat itself are free. I'm going to take a look at the rollers this weekend as suggested above.
  15. Thanks everyone for all the information and advice. It's been very awesome getting all the responses and is very welcomed. Just wanted to say that I was intending on talking to my AME first. I guess I kind of consider them one and the same (AME vs FAA) in my head. They (AME's) can give advice without having to report a pilot's questions to the FAA?
  16. I caught covid in mid January. It was a pretty good wallop but not as bad as some and certainly not as bad as those that ended up in the hospital. My experience was similar to Orionfit. it was like a 3-4 day cycle. It would hit me hard then I would start to feel better, almost like I'd thrown it and then wham it would knock me back down. Unfortunately soon after it past and I was back at work, I developed a DVT and then shortly after that a PE (a "quite small" PE according to the docs but still a PE). I had my last follow up appointment yesterday and have been prescribed blood thinners for the next 8 months. So now I guess it's time to have a talk with the FAA. According to AOPA's medical advisory area, it looks like I might be needing to gain a special issuance medical (I have a class III). Any one have any experience with covid related special issuances? from what I gather you want to avoid SI's but life has thrown me another "adventure".
  17. That would make a lot of sense as last year when I renewed the agent I was working with at falcon was surprised they even responded to her rfq; and how low the quote was. I almost didn't go with them because the quote was in the "too good to be true" range what with me being new to mooneys and not having a lot of hours in make and model. Sounds like I got in on the tail end of an initiative on XL's part to grab more of the GA market. In any event I have a couple of months before my current policy expires to find new insurance.
  18. No reason was given. It was a generic letter. I went through Falcon and the final company ended up being XL. They may just want to get out of the market.
  19. Just got a letter yesterday from my insurance company stating they will not be renewing the policy in February.
  20. wow, they've come down then. Last time i did it with them and they wanted $375. thanks for the update.
  21. Once again it's time to start looking for a shop that will do a 100 hr Eddy current inspection. Moving to the B hub is still a bit out of reach as far as AMU's are concerned. Any recommendations in the West or Central Texas, Eastern New Mexico, Southern Kansas, Oklahoma area? The two most local places to me last time were quoting in the .5 AMU range...
  22. I'll check, your are correct when there's no weight they work fine and when i'm carrying a buddy of mine who's like 6'2" 230 they work as well. it seems to do it the most when the wife is riding along or someone who's lighter weight.
  23. I believe i'm having a similar problem with the seats, particularly the co-pilot's seat, in m 62c as well. I'm finding that when anyone who rides with me, who doesn't weigh in around the 200 lb range, tries to adjust the seat. something happens that causes the seat to jam on the rails and from that point on the seat will not go forward or back on the rails and the seat back is locked in the upright position as well. This makes entering and exiting the plane an exercise in contortion. The only way I've found to relieve this is to pull the pins on the seat back. Some how doing this will release the binding that is happening with the seat on the rails and allow the seat to move forward and back on the rails. unfortunately when this happened the last time one of the pins pulled out and now the back on my co-pilots seat won't stay up on the that side. 24. how much for the b hub?
  25. It's been a while since anyone posted to this thread. Has anyone had any updates? I'm keenly interested in replacing my gauges as well
