  1. Our 67 m20c says Red Radial - Narrow (No continuous operating in range ) 2000-2250 rpm Does the Narrow refer to narrow deck engine????
  2. Numbers do not work with our aircraft .Our cost was an arm and a leg (but additional cost keep coming in). She is definitely worth it.
  3. We bought a 67 m20c with significant damage . the damage was from 1967 (aircraft had 105 hours at time of damage) aircraft was repaired. Aircraft has 3700 hours and she flys straight . Her performance numbers are at POH numbers . She sat for 10 years outside . On the plus side was price , she flys straight and engine was factory overhaul with new crank (900 hours). ON minus side was she needed every thing! She was taken apart and is almost back together . 0 timed engine . overhauled gear. new glass .new panel . new avionics . stc windshield, gap seals . she is stripped but still needs paint and interior . The tail and control surfaces are removed and have been painted. WE are making her as close to new as we can get her. We are 90% done. We paid 7K for her . The big cost avionics (gtn 650 gtx345 gma 345 gnc255 two g5 flight stream 510).We plan to fly 1000 hours next 2 years . NO plans to ever sell her. Because the airplane flys straight and performs at poh #s and the price was adjusted I felt good about the purchase.
  4. I would think airline pilots would give a pirep if they were picking up ice. A airliner may not pick up ice when your getting ice. Some large jets don't anti-ice the tails and only the outboard parts of the leading edge devices. A pirep from a large jet for ice or turb tells me not to fly my airplane in that area. It is a great thing that you posted this flight because we all learn from your experience !!!!!
  5. The jets most likely were not picking up ice (no pireps) going into san. If I had ice on the wing in a mooney I would add --- kts to approach speed.
  6. How much foam do you need for a m20c.(all seats ). Thank you.
  7. I stand corrected I see kewr rnav z 22l is down to 211 /1800rvr. what I fly cant do rnp and only do gps . sorry!!!
  8. what airport has same mins for ils and rnav ?
  9. wx 900 overcast not 9000 sorry
  10. The point I was trying to make is if weather is deteriorating(not forcasted). Your getting low on fuel the ILS is best approach because of lower mins. do not trust wx reports when picking your approach, take approach with lowest mins . wx changes fast . I have gone into airports reporting 6 miles and 5000 broken and had to go around due wx below mins on ils. The only time I would take gps over ils is if I didn't trust ground based equipment . Your going into bogota Colombia the wx report is 9000 overcast 3000m , would you ask for rnav 13L with mins of 8736 / 1700m or ILS 13L with mins of 8576 and 550m ????
  11. Great job on panel!!! I just bought my avionics for my first mooney. went with garmin 345 audio panel gtn650 gtx 345 and gnc255 nav/com and flight stream510. I 'am not sure If I want the G5 or the new aspen E5. The price is about the same. any body have info on e5?
  12. ILS is a better approach because it allows aircraft with capability to auto land down to 300 rvr. Your going into to KSEA RVR is 1800 alternate is kpdx . wx AT kpdx IS 400 AND A 1/2 DROPING FAST . YOU HAVE LEGAL FUEL PLUS A LITTLE HOLDING FUEL WHAT APPROACH WOULD YOU ASK FOR ?
  13. Just bought first Mooney . overhauled prop at h and h in Burlington NC . Eliminated AD.
