  1. Did the flame thrower work well?
  2. Very interesting life story...You've probably already read this but just in case: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/citizen-times/obituary.aspx?n=claude-steen&pid=175505172
  3. Glad you're on the recovery side of this. Were you at Dickinson hospital? I do some work in Iron River a couple days a month and Dickinson is the next closest hospital.
  4. Thanks. A joy to fly as well. First annual coming up in 3 weeks.
  5. Baby transfer engineer...aka ob/gyn.
  6. Sounds like a plan to me!
  7. I work in Ironwood but its been for the most part too wintery to make the flight. Looking forward to Spring/Summer when it'll be part of my commute.
  8. Where in Northern Michigan are you? I live just outside of Milwaukee but work half the week in the UP.
  9. Is there another commander based at BUU? I may have been behind you that day I was waiting to refuel....if not, then your plane looks very similar to the one I was behind. I think it was back in October.
  10. Just a few minutes away from KUES. Last time I was at BUU there was a line of 3 planes in front of me waiting for fuel haha!
  11. Where in WI are you?
  12. Congratulations! Picked up my F in August of last year. Such a thrill and grateful to have the ability to travel like this. But I hear you....Between winter weather and my personal schedule, makes it a little tougher to predict when I'll be able to fly this time of year.
  13. Maybe all of the dust is from the work of converting the plane back to a Mooney from a Cessna 172 haha...
  14. @RLCarter yes it does!
  15. Today I was able to change my hangar location to something that is south facing. What a big difference. The north facing hangar that I was in previously has a layer of ice in front of it that makes pulling the plane out very challenging if not impossible. I happen to now be next to another Mooney. By the looks of it though, it hasn't flown for a while. OLD HANGAR: NEW HANGAR NEW NEIGHBOR
  16. I've noticed that when I use ships power for the GoPro, I get lots of noise interference in the audio signal. Using a separate battery results in clear audio. My panel power is a Stratus USB port which otherwise works well powering my ipad and phone.
  17. If the gas looks clear why can't you put it back in?
  18. Is there a way for water to accumulate in the gascolator and not in the fuel tank sump area?
  19. Thanks for the ideas @Sabremech, labeling that photo and describing past center @Shadrach, and everyone else's input. The collective knowledge, desire to help, and responsiveness of Mooneyspace really blows me away. Thank you.
  20. I see. So, with the knob pushed in the closed position, this setup should look like your description and not what is in the photo? That would explain the change in resistance I used to feel...when it would go past center, if I'm understanding things correctly.
  21. Sorry but what does over center mean?
  22. Yeah, mine looks like yours. I've never tried to twist it. It has just been a little stiff in the past and there would be a point where a resistance changes could be appreciated when opening or closing it.
  23. Couldn't find this in my topic search so I thought I'd ask you all. Sorry if this is a repeat. When I had my alternator changed a few weeks ago, flight test afterwards revealed that the ram air door would open on its own when faster than 100mph roughly. Had the shop open the cowl back up and they tightened something. The cable wasn't slipping or anything like that. The mechanic who initially worked on it then said that the mechanism was corroded during the alternator install and so he "cleaned it up." I don't actually understand how the ram air door works. What normally keeps it from opening when at cruise speed? Is it just friction from a tight bolt or is there something more sophisticated than that? Thanks for any ideas. This is what it looked like when the cowl was off and after the cleaning. I don't have a photo of the before appearance.
  24. Whoa!!
  25. We almost have twins....
