  1. Well, that's a good idea! Thanks...
  2. During my last flight I pulled the cabin heat knob and the temperature got really nice. When I shut it down I started feeling a nice cold air hitting my hand on the trim wheel. That's how I discovered the vent is kind of chipped and even if closed allows air to come in. Any idea/solution on how to fix it? Is it even possible to find the replacement part? Thanks!
  3. Me three...I haven’t been excited about a small piece of kit like this in a long time but this thing looks really cool...;-)
  4. So we are talking about moving the reservoir to the engine side of the firewall...is there any space? Do you guys have it in the same exact position but opposite firewall location?
  5. I flew a PA28-140 for a few years and the brakes fluid check was part of the pre-flight. The reservoir was easily accessible opening the cowling (I know...different shape, system, etc.). I never thought this was going to become such a big deal! I wish mine was were yours is but I'm afraid @Marauder is right: someone moved it. I guess I will just remove the top instrument panel cover and take a peak...
  6. Got it....unfortunately I do not have that inspection panel...
  7. I have the Lasar mod not sure if it's the 201 I need to verify. How do you guys check the fluid level? It seems absurd to remove the top of the instrument panel at every pre-check...
  8. Thanks! So it's inside the cabin...I need to remove the top instrument cover to check the level...wow! I do not see any inspection panels from the outside...
  9. Anyone with a M20F 1970 who can tell me where the freaking brakes fluid reservoir is located? I have opened all the cowlings and the compartment where the battery is installed but I cannot see one. I have checked the service manual but the book I have doesn't show the location. I have checked inside the cabin but I could not see it...it got to be somewhere! Merry XMAS MSers!
  10. I'm afraid my two receivers are different. Maybe someone did some work in the past. I will go and verify today. I didn't see a bolt in the left wing but when I inserted the 3/4" it went in properly. Maybe there is a nut up there...in the right wing I can see the thread from under the wing and I can see it needs to be fixed. Maybe it's the original 5/16"...
  11. 4" including the "eye"...the thread only is 2"...
  12. I plan to install them only when needed on the wings. I'm ok with the tail one. Not planning to fly with them on. Even if I buy the Lasar kit for $45 I still have the problem on the thread...
  13. My F is missing the eye bolts (I have heard some reasons why this appears to be a popular problem...). I went to Lowes and bought several eye bolts and found the 3/8" dia by 4" length worked perfectly on one wing (left). On the other wing the thread seems damaged and the eye bolt does not want to go in. What do you guys suggest? Just buy a threading bit and try to fix it?
  14. Ok, you gave me an idea. I will compare the EGTs of the two flights I have done with the "manual" LOP procedure so I can have an indication if they are pretty much the same. Next flight I made note to run a "step-by-step" procedure and then compare temps...
  15. I guess it's now time for me to LOP using the JP830 procedure instead of just pulling the mixture to 8.5GPH! I kind of like that easy pull without checking graph bars and numbers while flying the airplane...do you guys think it's necessary to go through the JP830 steps?
  16. So...this works great, THANKS! I have been doing a few flights where I quickly moved to about 8.5GPH. Everything appears to be more stable (oil temp, CHTs, etc.). Now at what point to "revert"? For example: I like to be @pattern ALT when about 3NM from the airport. If I'm @5000' with WOT, 2400RPM and 8.5GPH how do I get to FULL PROP, MAX MIXTURE and LOW RPM/Speed and get ready to land? It might sounds like a silly question but I found myself to look for a procedure during that phase of the flight.
  17. Nice, now you've got me hooked with this thing! I have been thinking to replace my old mechanical clock on the far left of my panel with something actually useful in this era and age...I think that will do it! Does anyone know it the pilot can install it or we need to call the A&P to do the work?
  18. I have added a filter to select only specific rows (for example state) and a column for contact/website...
  19. For shop time and bad weather (apparently the weather Gods have decided to send flyable weather Mon-Fri and crappy stuff during the weekend!) I have reactivated my flight simulator: 1) Upgraded to XPlane 11 2) Reenabled my Pilotedge account 3) Bought a Mooney M20J from Carenado (close enough to my "F") 4) Wired all together and ready to fly! There are a few more details (glad to share if anyone is interested...) but this is the high level list. Pretty cheap even if you want to start from scratch!!! (guestimate <$700)... Remember that my goal is not to play and fly but to fly and keep proficiency with IFR plates and radio communication...
  20. Here is another good source (sorry if it has been already published....): https://www.funplacestofly.com/fun_places_to_fly.asp Does anyone use it? I have been toying around with it but have not actually gone to any of the suggested places...
  21. Speaking of which....I finally got mine (Sensorcon) and clipped to the pocket right below the trim/flap indicator. Yesterday, I started the engine after multiple attempts (my mistake...) and the thing started beeping. The "pill" was ok (my backup CO2 detector!). I vented the cabin, started taxing and the number was going down. At altitude went back to zero. I opened the cabin air, still zero. Does it happen to you guys too?
  22. My Mooney M20F has the trim and flap indicators made by a square piece of teflon stuck on top of a metal wire which moves up and down based on the settings. While the trim is working ok the flap indicator keeps ungluing itself leaving the Teflon block loose. I have tried different types of glue (superglue, a softer type, etc). Every few flights I need to open the little window and glue it again! Is there anything different I can do? Is anyone having the same issue? Thanks!
  23. Just ordered one with expedite shipping. For whatever reason this post freaked me out because yesterday I was talking to my mechanic to check the cabin heat. I have never used it since I got the Mooney...part of the good news is the CO2 sensor (the cheap $10 one...) has not indicated any leaks. Now I need the second part confirming the no-leak after actually pulling the cabin heat knob! I think I will ground check it first with the Sensorcon ON...;-)
  24. I'm building a device with CO2 detection plus other functions but after reading this I might just buy one so to be still alive and complete my project! Do you guys have the basic model ($159)?
  25. Thanks!
