  1. @John Fletcher, just make me a n offer via Private Message. Thanks,
  2. I need a bit more help: my mechanic wants to order a new cable from McFarland(?) and he needs the length. Does anyone have any clue? Thanks!!!
  3. I have a few calls to place today but if anyone knows where I can find the freaking cable please let me know!!! Is there a part#?
  4. So it is a push-pull cable...pulled from the know and pushed from the spring. I never used it, does it mean the pilot needs to hold the knob pulled while manually cranking the gear?
  5. How do you "reset" after being pulled?
  6. I see the spring. Maybe the mechanic took it out when he tested the manual cranking system which worked ok. I will ask. Yes, that's exactly what I think: motor might be ok, maybe it just need to be lubed/greesed. If I can replace the cable I can fly knowing that I have the E-gear working. I will rig it anyway later on. I just need to find the cable!
  7. You and Richard are saying the same thing: missing spring. How does it look? Is it something still available? The landing gear works just fine. The breaker only popped once. The mechanic has been cycling it multiple times with no problems. The idea is to fix the E-gear system and maybe overhaul the motor. Then I can fly and will schedule the one-day rig trip to Dalton whenever is convenient without the logistical nightmare of dropping the airplane for 10 days, coming back, going there again, etc.
  8. Here are the pictures. Yes, it is the emergency release cable. My mechanic told me it is "frozen". The manual cranking system works if the motor is disengaged manually. Any help finding the cable is appreciated. One of the picture is just the motor... Thanks!
  9. I called COLE Aviation and Joey suggested to overhaul the motor (which I think it's a good idea...). However, he uses a company in CA...but I remember someone here said do not send the part to the company in CA...any comments? I still need to find the cable and fix the emergency gear before I fly to Dalton... Thanks!
  10. Great, thanks. At what speed do you usually climb? I need to watch my oil temp which has the tendency to go to >210 easily but I can control it if I lower the RPMs...maybe staying at WOT can help?
  11. This sounds so easy to do. Is it a general best practice even for the M20F? I'm still trying to understand what's best to do and this approach sounds like a great first step. Can I just increase the RPM and Mixture to gain more power if, for example, need to climb to 10000'?
  12. Anyone near KAND (Anderson SC)? I think I need that kind of help. 2400/24 is what I was told in cruise (I believe the POH also mentions that) and 26/2600 during climb. I have listened the red fin stuff, LOP vs, ROP but I’m still kind of afraid to pull the mixture too much when I fly with the Mooney.
  13. Thanks Hank. Do you happen to have Don Maxwell ph#? I remember seeing it somewhere and I also remember that's the preferred way to contact him. You can PM me if you do not want to post it in here.
  14. Here are the latest: while testing the emergency gear down mechanism my mechanic discovered....it wasn't working! Shocking and glad I didn't need it. Apparently the cable is broken. According to one of his source (somewhere in California) the cable is no longer manufactured. The same person also said the slight movement and pressure under the seat while raising the gear is not uncommon. Anyway, the priority know is to fix the emergency gear system. Does anyone know where we can find a cable or has one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  15. I will call them tomorrow, also recommended by my A&P.
  16. That's exactly one of the recommendations. Is rigging the gear a big ($$$) deal?
  17. We have seen a small paint scratch in the left inside door of the front wheel...like the wheel is rubbing but even adjusting the door it's still there. Other than that and the floor strong movement (my mechanic thinks it is not usual...) everything has been working ok for the last 20hrs of flights. Until the issue above. Is some rubbing "normal"?
  18. Thanks everybody. I have decided to order Bruce's. One of the reason is that most of the times I install them when the engine is still warm and I need to make sure nothing crazy happens! IYKWIM (If you know what I mean!)
  19. My A&P suggestion is to take my Mooney to DLK in GA (closest place to me, about 1hr — has anyone worked with them?) to rig the whole landing gear. He found the emergency cable connected to the lever broken (fortunately I didn’t need it!) and he thinks the motor is applying too much strength on the structure where it is connected which could indicate extra amps possibly causing the breaker to pop. Also, the green LED burned out. He cycled the landing gear multiple times with no issues. Thoughts?
  20. Yes, I had both VORs and one radio overhauled plus the gauge bank...but I have been flying a few hours after the work...when I left this morning the light was green and everything appeared ok during the flight...but I'm aware that stuff won't alert you before breaking...
  21. Good question. I forgot to check. It's the one on the top row about in the middle. I cannot find a picture of the panel either...
  22. I'm on an ILS approach going through my GUMP and when I switch my gear down nothing happens. I cycle the switch two more times...nothing! Start troubleshooting and I see the breaker popped. I do a go around, push the breaker, cycle the gear switch one more time and hear the gear down noise. The green light beneath the switch is still off, I check the floor light and it's green. Not trusting I go around again and call the FBO asking for someone to check my belly. They see three wheels, I land safely! What can possibly be? I left the Mooney at the shop...
  23. Bump!
  24. Hello! My Mooney M20F didn't come with cowl plugs so I have to buy or make them. The only thing I found so far that doesn't cost $150 (!) is this https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/cowlunivseralkit.php Any ideas or recommendations? Can I just buy some foam at Lowes and make them? Not sure about the right material, though. Thanks!
