  1. I go with minimum oil temp prior to starting the runup. In the winter, it can take some time. I'd say I'm usually idle on the ramp for a good 3-5 minutes prior to taxi for runup and then may have to wait another minute or so for the oil temp to get there.
  2. I used Dorr for my J. Great to work with, competitive and very responsive. I'd recommend avoiding BofA backed loans. They can be very difficult to deal with in the event you have title/insurance issues i.e. insurance claims wherein they are a lienholder and must be included on any settlement check as it relates to the aircraft.
  3. QBE is another insurance company you could point your broker to if they've not already reached out to them. Good idea to shop around on brokers as well.
  4. Jeship, I'm at KCNI with a J model if you'd like to get a feel for one. I'd say that a J model would fit your needs with some better economy if that's a concern. Engine's cheaper to maintain and fuel burn is laughable. The gentlemen that I bought my J from was stepping up to a 252.
  5. I have a similar issue with my UBG16. Starts to get an erratic display while flying xc so I've got some time on my hands. Messing around, I noticed that when I put pressure on the panel around the instrument, it stopped. All 4 screws were able to be advanced 1/4-1/2 turn. Seemed to fix the problem. Thinking it's a grounding issue.
  6. I'd say try cleaning it again. You obviously effected some positive change so it might be the case that another cleaning of the contacts will do the trick. Mine started to to that a few days ago so I need to see if cleaning solves it for me.
  7. I'd go with the '81 as well if I had to choose now. However, I would likely hold out until I could find one with a GTN 750 installed. Very nice upgrade to have over a GNS series. If you're sticking with a J, I'd certainly stick with a 2 blade prop and have it dynamically balanced if it seems rough during operation. Better efficiency with a 2 blade, especially on this platform. Happy hunting!
