  2. 1) more right rudder 2) more left rudder 3) more left rudder Oh, and pretty coo!
  3. a Lance, maybe.
  4. how does it work? (the field switch, not the hydraulic flaps lol)
  5. 'easier'? no, not at all. on top of that cable you also need something to actually record the audio. on top of that, now you need to sync your audio with the video. so no, while not 'easier' (also not difficult), this, paired with a good audio recording device, will probably get you much better audio. however, not even close to 'easier'. if you're looking for higher quality, your option is clearly the better option. if you're looking for cheap, easy and acceptable audio, lapel mic all day.
  6. I went the super high tech route and stuffed a lapel mic inside the earpiece of my headset. I know, I know, but it gets the job done. get yourself one of these (make sure the connection is right for your camera): lapel mic plug it into the gopro and stuff the mic end into your earpiece (take the foam thing off first). this way it'll record everything you hear in your headset. you can hear my videos, not professional quality but certainly good enough for the cheesy youtube videos I do. you can usually get a few of them for a coupl'a bucks, this way you have backups if (when) they break.
  7. I'm 474nm from you. "need to test out sitting in the back seat" sounds like a perfect excuse for a xc. btw, I had a 6'3 250# dude in the back seat of my F, he said he was more than comfortable (and completely shocked at the amount of room he had). and yes, well within W&B.
  8. here's a vid I edited in movie maker. absolutely nothing special about it, but you can see I just clip stuff out to try to shorten the video a bit: movie maker and here's a goofy one I did using iMovie last Halloween. it's "a little" trickier than movie maker but once you do one and you get it, it's easy to do. I did this one entirely on my iPhone: iMovie a long time ago I used the gopro editing software and found that to be easy as well, but I haven't used it in a long time. hope this helps.
  9. Movie maker. Basic, easy, free.
  10. torque wrench + 1" stubby socket and you're set.
  11. this is a better explanation:
  12. be careful....adding length to the torque bar changes the actual torque. there may be better explanations online, but take a look at this vid:
  13. I recently used a 1” crows foot wrench on the champion and it worked great. It looks like I might have enough room for a stubby 1” socket which I’d prefer but the crows foot worked just fine.
  14. this is the method I learned from @DrBill cost me pennies to make, works great.
  15. lol yep, that was me. he makes some pretty good videos and they are good peeps.
  16. He's active on PoA and I met him at the Kentucky fly-in we had. Why?
  17. FYI, this was the email response I got from Signature dated 7/8/2018: "Good afternoon <eman> The fees for a single engine piston aircraft are as follows. Handling charge of $29 can be waived with a minimum fuel purchase of either 7,10, or 12 gallons (depending on what single engine aircraft you operate) Overnight parking is $13/night. Self serve fuel is at $5.13/gallon all in. Please let me know if you need anything else sir. Thank you."
  18. I did a pretty thorough pre-check, then ran it for probably less than 3 minutes. Basically just to check for leaks. Re-cowl’d but lunch break is over so I’ll do a few laps in the pattern tonight. Thanks!
  19. Which is exactly what I said. $29 +5, $29 being waived if you buy fuel. Same thing. It sounds like on top what I said you also got charged a daily fee.
  20. Because that’s what they charged me. I also emailed them and that’s exactly what they quoted they would charge me.
  21. it'll still cost you $34 even just for a short lunch hop, and even more if you get fuel. but it used to be worse, so......
  22. any concerns firing up the engine with the side and top cowl off? more specifically, I'm just a little concerned with the lower portion of the front cowl and if that is strong enough not to wobble too much and potentially cause damage. I have to imagine everyone does this post oil change. thanks!
  23. I've been there several times. definitely monitor weather and winds aloft, like others have said. have plan B C and D. weather around there can be tricky, specifically on the west side of the mtns could be solid overcast but on the east side, clear. I flew into AVL a couple of weeks ago, prices are now $29 plus $5, with the 29 waived if u get 7 gallons of fuel, with fuel being over $5 for self serve. there is a lot of construction going on, lots of taxiway closures, CHECK YOUR NOTAMS!!!! I highly recommend checking out the sierra Nevada brewery which is a quick uber ride from the airport. anyways, yeah, signature at AVL can suck it. but to answer your question, it has potential to be tricky, just do your planning and it should be fine. strong winds aloft and it's probably a no-go for me, otherwise no biggie. have fun!
  24. what do y'all use to clean the INSIDE of the cowl?
  25. Stupid question but is the whelen par 46 truly a drop-in replacement for the old GE landing light....wiring, breaker etc..?
