  1. Yes, you can. But by judicious use of remaining engine, aileron ("raise the dead") and rudder you can fly the aurcraft much more cleanly than was exhibited here. My twin experience is limited to KA200's. Nothing says you have to leave the remaining engine firewalled. In fact, depending upon airspeed, you may not be able to use full power. Second vote for emergency procedures training! Patrick
  2. Interesting - learn something new every day. Thanks! Patrick
  3. Steel toed flight boots? Not in the USAF. Which nation flies with steel toes? I've been told it's b/c if you go down in arctic environs the toes will sooner frostbite if wearing them. I agree though - it's all in what you're used to. For me it's flight boots in the Herk, Dockers in the 737, tennis shoes or leather slip-ons in the Mooney and RV. Patrick
  4. Fantastic to see a thread with resolution! I am facing a similar situation and will pursue this solution. Thank you!
  5. In the industry there is some laughter at this attitude. It is usually made by "senior" (to be polite) guys who don't want to learn a new set of systems. Just my experience - yours may vary, of course.
  6. "Makes me want to buy a kit plane" You could do worse... RV-4 & '65 C-model owner
  7. WagAero has the LED units on sale now. Haven't price compared them yet but thought I'd pass it along.
  8. Delta's hiring - live wherever you want.
  9. This was kind of the line of my question - I haven't seen a detailed sample report and should probably ask Blackstone how much the report helps in identifying shaft problems that will not be manifest if a magnet is used. Just the engineer in me wondering...
  10. Any advice on whether using magnets on the oil filter negates the benefit of an oil analysis routine? I know the analysis will still show any non-ferrous materials and would be useful in that regard, but part of me says if I can get the majority of the ferrous stuff out of the oil it would 1) be better for the engine and still show the material when the filter is cut open 2) skew the oil analysis data Experience with both? Opinions? Advice? Thanks!
  11. Congratulations on the new block and the adjusted weight and balance - here's hoping both pay dividends in the future!
  12. First time post with an unusual question perhaps someone at their hangar can answer. Trying to fit an RV-4 and a M20-C in my hangar and need to know the dimension from the leading edge of the Mooney to the spinner tip. Alternately, if anyone knows a spot on the web where more dimensions than wingspan and length live I'd like a reference to that. On the road doing some planning so thanks. Patrick
