  1. I would actually would like to get one, but from my reading and first impression, it dos'nt seem that they are as good as the PFX. I like the PFX very much, they are a great, sometimes the auto-ajustement is anoying, but all in all much better than the Zulu 2, and I would say better than Bose...
  2. i did the spatial interrior install with Bruce early this year. It came out great, his system works very very well, but you need all the panels, you can't just buy the front since it is considerably different design from the OEM panels and it would just not work combining the old an the new, at least I would think. Bruce does amazing work and it is hard to keep up with him, we spent 3 full days of installations him and me. We did the interrior, and I did the the carpets and my seats were done by a local shop. Erik, if you like, next time we meet, you can show me your prop and I will show you my spatial interrior.
  3. Yeah Montreal is a great place for restaurants, let me know if you come by and if I can make it, we can meet for a beer and talk Mooney. As for restaurants, there are lot in downtown, or old Montreal, beautiful place to walk and enjoy the unique mix of Europe and North America...
  4. Hi Carl, I'm from Montreal and my Mooney is at Mascouche, if you need to go trough customs your best bets are either St-Hubery CYHU which is within resonable cab costs to Montreal, or again Pierre Eliot Trudeau (CYUL) which is the internation airport. Other airports with customs are Bromont CZBM or Mirabel : CYMX. If I were looking for a cheap stay, I would do customs at CZBM (free) or CYMX (50 can$ FBO fees for up to 24h) and then go to another airport such as Mascouche (CSK3) for free or cheap tie-down. If you want an airport on the island of Montreal, the CYUL has everything, but probably the most expensive for parking and gas. If you need anything, PM me and if you need help with logistics, let me know and I can help as much as possible. P.S. It is getting colder here, but not so much yet, but it all depends how used to cold you are.
  5. Man I hope I'm as calm and precise when in this situation... I have never had any serious emergency, only a door pop open on takeoff, and decided to come back to airport and fix it on the ground. Great job...
  6. I would be interested, I was going to buy the required Serial cable and USB adapter from Aircraft Spruce. Is there a way I can test to see if it works in my setup. P.S. I'm in Canada. Thanks !!!
  7. What kind and brand of smoke hoods do you have, just wondering if I should add that to my flight bag. Thanks
  8. Our planes might be modern, but some of us pilots ( including myself ) are vintage, but well preserved
  9. I found Reiff heating is much Easier and no need to remove anything...
  10. I have always wondered about that, never done it my self tough !!!
  11. I wonder how much difference would be to go to 930 primary and get rid of all those old gauges...That is what I might do in a couple of years, my 700 is good but 830 or 930 would be much better.
  12. thanks for the pictures and information. My Rocket is only about 200h since overhaul, so I have still alot of time on it before one is needed, at least one hopes I would be very interested in the numbers
  13. Very very well done, thanks for the link
  14. Well found a very knowledgable person at my local hardware store, got a product called goo buster, was told to apply it using a q-tip cotton swap and it did wonders, removed all the spots and then put on a leather cleaner and conditioner, seats look like brand new... That is a big relief, it would have been shitty if otherwise...
  15. Wondering if anyone knows a safe product to clean and remove epoxy glue from leather... I just installed my Reiff turbo XP system last weekend at the same time my mecanic was installing my AOA, at some point I accidently got some of the Oil-Pan heater glue (two part Epoxy or whatever that glue is ), I not knowingly got some on my pants and sat in my aircraft with my new leather seats that I put in 6 monts ago, so obviously now they have the stuff on them. I'm trying to find a way to remove it without scratching it or using something that would discolor it. Thanks for your suggestions !!!
  16. Did you or anyone tried Vx as the upper limit, I would think it might be too sensitive, plan to test it tomorrow...
  17. It's okay, I guess it is public domain so everyone can post about anything...
  18. I miss stated, here is what Rip wrote on his email to me : "You can program the V speeds wherever you like, and there is no practical limit to the number of times you can do the programming. Part of the FAA certification process required that the programming button be removed after calibration, but between you and me, a lot of folks leave it installed in an out of the way location." So I guess we can leave it there...
  19. it's a bit sad how this thread was transformed to something that it was not intended. The fact that I was speaking french to a potential partner for my mooney has transformed to what ever this is.
  20. Well according to Rip, the FAA letter or agreement is conditional on the removal of the recalibration button. We decided to leave the button on the back of the plate where it is installed, so easly reprogrammable with the removal of 4 screws and access to the button.
  21. Well I'm wondering if the Vx (71 knots) is set for the top green and Vso (61 Knots) is set for the bottom red, would it not be too senstive ? I mean 10 kts between top to bottom... I'm guessing that in this case, I want to be on the yellow (65 kts) passing the fence and then on the red just before touch down, right ??? How would that react when turning at a high enough bank when going from base to final ??? Thanks !!!
  22. Hi, Just installed my new CYA-100 AOA, and will be calibrating it soon during a flight and I was wondering what speed did you guys use for the green (upper) limit. In the instruction it says we can use either the Vy or Vx or any other speed, according to Rocket numbers, my Vy is 105 Knots and Vx is 71 knots, my stall speed is 61 Knots. After talking to Rip (the maker of this AOA), he tells me that my lower limit should be about 62 or 63, but higher limit is up to me, and I'm wondering what would be the consequence of my choice would be and how that influences the display. I was thinking of putting Vy as the upper limit and then I would imagine a Vx speed would be in the yellow section and Vso in red... I'm just looking for inputs of people that have configured an AOA and what do they like to put as speed and why and of course I will test these during my calibration flight ! Thanks !
  23. I wish I could have made it sunday, but we ended up installing the CYA-100 AOA and the Reiff Turbo XP pre-heat, both in the same day !!! long day with my mecanic, but all done !!!
