  1. Here are pictures of the exhaust I have for sale. I am upgrading to power flow.
  2. I have the position and strobes for an 82 J for sales (Make an offer). Upgrading to LED. I have the power pack and two Lenses for the left wing tip (one is cracked). The position and strobe lights are worth something I would take $75 for all of them.
  3. I would take $200 plus freight for all of it
  4. I have an exhaust system for a 1982 J. If any one is interested? Mike N133DB
  5. As a CFI I teach my students very simple stuff to start with. 800 minimum before attempting a return to field. Never more than 30 bank on turns in the pattern, and always outside in the pattern. If you do these three things you will have an AOA and airspeed that is above 1.4 let alone 1.3. Young pilots (in my opinion) simply need to think forward not return to the field until they basically turn downwind which in most planes (172, Cherokee, Mooneys) is about 800 feet AGL. It is really easy to teach in Marco Island as we are 6 foot MSL
  6. Thanks Don they look great!
  7. Don, if you ever can get the concept to work count me in for my J. The OEM ones are bad, but hey they have the cool power chart on them lol
  8. My J is based out of KMKY (Marco Island) fuel is cheaper at KAPF (Naples), but Marco is very pretty also. If you decide to stop at Everglades city, be good on your short field landings and T/O trees and water at both ends. Also, know how to land cross wind. In the winter you will ALWAYS have an East wind with a mostly N/S runway. Marco is 35/17 also but is 5400 ft long and 150 foot wide. Any MSers that ever come down here look me up N133DB (Rhodie 1) everyone at APF tower knows me. Too much flying here lol
  9. I am based at KAPF and have a GTN 750 in a J model. Let me know if you want to go fly your new toy! Mike 239-877-7506
  10. This is soooo funny just today we replaced all 4 of our vent hoses. The original hose material was "Lara aero duct". That is no longer made in the 1 1/2 inch and 1 1/4 inch sizes you need. So I contacted Steve at Mooney, you can use CEET or SCAT hoses. You will need 2 5 foot sections of CEET 4 (this is 1 1/4 inch, but it is on back order at spruce so you can use SCET it is about 2 per foot more. You will also need 2 9 foot pieces of CEET 5 (this is the 1 1/2 size and Spruce has it). We choose to silicone, hose clamp and but a small screw into the nipple where the hoses go. Your set up is exactly what I have in my 82. It is a pain to take the headliner down but it works great!
  11. I always punch a small hole on top of the filter, then turn the filter so the hole is pointing about towards the ground. Then put something like a water bottle with the top cut off under the hole (thinking this form a funnel would work well here?). Then I use the air compressor in another hole I ouch on what is the top now to blow as much oil out of the old filter as possible.
  12. I bought 133DB almost a year ago and have read so much on this forum, but never asked if anyone was down here is South West Florida. Clarence and Jose I am very grateful for all the replies to questions I have had! Mike
  13. Thanks to all we ended up being able to reuse the original one. It turned out great just need to do the painting and the job is done!
  14. Oh ok sorry I did not follow I will call him tomorrow. Thanks for the help. We got it off ok, it is just rippled a bit. A new one would look so much better once it is cherry riveted back into place. I will send you pics when it is done, it is really turning out great!
  15. Don thanks for responding, but tank resealing? Not sure I described correct? It is that this piece of aluminum that holds the winshield in place on the lower part of the windshield. It raps over the cowl and is riveted in place. I need another one? Does mooney sell these stil? Thanks Don for your help!
  16. I am looking for the cowling aluminum strip that holds the winshield in place. I am in the process of converting to 1/4 inch glass and we have the original winshield out. The piece that is riveted to the cowling that hold the bottom of the windshield aim place is bent a little I would like to see it I can find a replacement for it, but am unsure where to look? It is an 82 J model. Thanks for all the help! Mike
  17. I put an 830 in mine and yes 1 and 4 do run the hottest, but I slightly gapped the cowl flaps 1/8 inch and mine runs 155 to 160 wot on 7.8 gal per hour just lean of peak. Never let my CHT's go above 355 to 360
  18. I have a 82 J with just over 400 hours on prop and IO360. It has new interior (10 out of 10). Paint is a solid 8. GTN750, Aspen PFD, electric backup HSI, JPI 830, LED landing light, GDL39 hard wired to iPad mini mounted to panel. Remote ADSB in/out to the GTN750, aero comfort leather wraped yokes and glare shield, new skytek starter. I am into it for about $155. Not sure $325 is even possible?
  19. No I have a picture of it now. It is a broken ring.
  20. The problem is a broken piston ring?
  21. Thanks Clarence I am asking about that now
  22. I will I think they are going to do the repairs tomorrow. I will try to get pictures.
  23. The oil pressure has always been around 65 since I have owned it?
  24. I want to thank everyone that responded to this post. I feel like I was clearly emotional about it yesterday, and it was for that reason I did not put the overhaul shops name on here. Hopefully I have not trashed anyone at this point, because as some have said that is really unfair at this point until more is known. Looking at my engine log from when the new (overhauled engine) was installed it has two entries that concern me. The engine was done as stated in 01/09. In April of 2011 the #4 cylinder (the one that is dead now) was "repaired" for oil blow by. This repair was done by the original shop that did the overhaul (someone said it was a field overhaul if I gave that impression it was wrong it was done by a "national" shop). The newly repaired cylinder was replaced and signed off on. At annual in 2014 (February) the compressions were as follows #1 73 #2 72 #3 76 and #4 64. While I know that 64 is within tolerance it concerns me that this same cylinder is causing the problems again yesterday. I think what I am going to do is just go with a brand new cylinder and have all the checks done to make sure it is not more than that. If the original shop wants to help great if not so be it. At least I will feel better about it going forward. From what I have learned so far I guess I did ok landing with 2 1/2 quarts of oil left as far as Lycoming is concerned, but it was really an interesting experience. Again thank you all for your opinions I am clearly not an expert at this!!
  25. Thanks Clarence, at this point I have only contacted them and they have said it is out of warranty but they maybe able to help? This is the reason I don't really want to say who they are until I have more information. It was pretty scary!
